Just got a new 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-road and am downsizing to a new camper. Instead of mounting a controller in the truck I opted for the Tekonsha with the remote control in the cab. I am getting "n.c" code when trying to pair. Running through the controller, all trailer lights work. Trying to troubleshoot - is there any fuses or prep needed in the Tacoma to run this system? Instructions say to plug and play - assuming nothing needs done with harness under dash. Any suggestions would be helpful. Will be connecting trailer to another vehicle soon to make sure trailer brakes on trailer are good using a truck brake controller system I know is working. Thanks!

I have a P3 and it was plug and play. All you need is the main plug and ground wire. (grounded to the OEM bolt). Seems to be an odd issue if it's wired correctly.

P2 here, my controller reads n.c. for not connected when the trailer isn’t plugged in and the truck is first started.

Otherwise it goes right to the amp reading.

Check that the 7 pin is tight and in there good, our 2nd Gen had a better connection than the 3rd Gen does - I’ve added a few wraps of electrical tape around the plug to make it fit tighter.

Thanks vicali and ChrisIz. Will verify grounding and check on the connection given the looser fit. Tape might just fix it.

I have this setup as well. I plug it into the 12-volt connection in the cab .... old timers would call it the Cig Lighter...

Anyway it works like a champ. Make sure the 7-pin connector is plugged in nice.
Also - plug the controller into the 12-volt AFTER you crank the truck... not sure if that really makes a difference but
that's what I have in my cheat-sheet that I created for myself.

And for general info - be careful about the boost button ... b.2 looks a lot like 6.2 and can really
cause 'locking up issues' when using the break - probably no need to ever use the boost function.

Works well on this little setup:

I bet you lockup that trailer with b2!

I use the boost button when I get into traffic and traffic lights. Usually b1 is enough but if it's rush hour and people are jumping into my lane I'll do b2 just to make sure I can stop quick.

Oh yea it sure does - I've made the mistake of turning it on and it is very evident when I do.

Well got issue fixed. Ends up trailer didn't have a solid ground to the frame. Grounding was only up through pin. I grounded the brakes to frame and works great.
