Will Mercedes retire manuals altogether by next year?

VW is said to drop manuals by 2030.

Stick-shift decline has been around for some time.

Moot point now. Several European countries and US states will be banning new combustion engined cars in 2030, many more jurisdictions in 2035. https://www.businesskorea.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=84657
Hyundai Motor Group already closed its combustion engine development center last year.

The 4th gen Taco coming next fall likely won't have an MT option.

 

I predicted it for 2020 and was wrong. So I'm going to stay quiet and enjoy the few we have.

 

I have a vintage 2010 pre runner, access cab, 140,000 miles, 2.7 with a 5 speed manual.
I’d be willing to let in go for 70k.

 

Back in the 80s and 90s they said manuals were on the decline.

Now in 2020, I say that transmissions are on the decline. You will continue to see manuals right up until the day that all cars go direct-drive.

Of course at current inflation rates, $70k in 2030 money will be comparable to bicycles and mopeds at the time...
