I have a question, when replacing the 2011 TRD Sport seat for the 2005 passenger fold flat seat, do I need to take the entire seat out, or can I simply swap the seat back?

Here is a pic of both, from the web.

2011 most likely has a side airbag in the seat, 2005 probably does not so you will run into problems with the SRS system unless you find one that is the same airbag configuration as what you have.

    good point I found this.

The Toyota Tacoma was redesigned for the 2005 model year. Side airbags became standard in all models beginning with the 2009 model year (they had been optional in Double Cab models in 2005-08).
