"Battery monitoring systems (BMS) are now a universal subsystem in every modern vehicle, due in part to the fed-mandated Engine Idle Shutdown (EIS)."

Perhaps my 3rd gen Tacoma is not a "modern vehicle" because there is nothing but a short between the negative battery post and the chassis connection.

The point where the battery’s negative pole connects to the chassis is where you want to connect the ground wire if you are hooking the positive directly to the battery

That’s all that I gathered from that article. It seems for some vehicles it’s best practice to go to the body grounding point but for the tacoma it’s irrelevant.

That is what I have always done but with the Tacoma you can hook directly to the battery. The article makes it sound like all newer vehicles have a BMS installed in the lead from the battery to the chassis, which is clearly not the case.

I took a week and put together this DC-DC charger to LiFePo battery to transceiver radio. Wires run under carpet, under door sill caps, and through the firewall.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
I tied mine to the 12v in the center console. Switched, fused, and the same as if I used the adapter to plug it in there
