My knock sensor code used to come on and I'd be able to clear it while driving. It'd stay off until I'd, either sit at idle, or, completely shut it down. If I'd start it back up while hot, as in 2-3 minutes of shutting off, It'd come right back. However, if while driving, I'd clear it, It'd stay off. Now, however, it pops right back up when cleared. Usually bank 1 but sometimes both. Would be indicative of the knock sensor being bad?

If that's the case, then why would I initially be able to clear the code? That really doesn't make sense. If something did get into my wiring, chewed through 1 or more, then I, at first, would not be able to clear the codes.

Furthermore, it does it ONLY when it's hot

The sensor and the wiring its connected to have to perform correctly no matter what the temp is

If it codes cold, there's a problem
If it codes hot, there's a problem

Sounds like you're in for a knock sensor job including the harness

Bone stock. Well, I guess I did disable the seat belt chime, and I added a nice MOLLE panel to the back of the passenger seat
    Burky,

Not sure if they're the same part, but I have two good used factory knock sensors from my 2013 TRD OR from when I had mine replaced.

In my case it was rodent damage to the sub harness for the sensors and not the sensors themselves, however, since I had my buddy who works at the dealership special order me in the new ones they were non-returnable, so I installed the new ones and kept the old ones.

If you want mine let me know and we can make a deal. I have no use for these things and if it can save you money all the better.

I'm assuming your getting a P0327, P0328, P0332, and/or a P0333 but most likely it's a failing sensor or an intermittent open or short in the wiring, either way it's not a fun job unless you happen to have a wiring problem that's not in the valley of the engine.

First things first, borrow an inspection camera and stick it in there.

When I did I could see the nest the little bastard had made and the chewed wires.

Second: my mechanic was able to sneak the sensors in there by putting the bolt through the hole in the sensor, then wrapping a piece of solid copper wire around the shaft of the bolt.

This let them use the wire to get the sensor in position from the front of the engine and while they had it there a second tech started the bolt threads into their hole. At this point they just pulled on the wire and let it unloop itself from around the bolt.

I thought that was a pretty clever approach to getting things in place without having to cut the coolant crossover bracket or remove the head of bank 1.
