Caught some decent Scup (AKA Porgies), this morning fishing Fishers Island Sound from my little Boston Whaler. Strong fighters for their size and excellent tableware. Very under rated, and under appreciated fish, by many but not all.
Also kept a couple of Sea Robins, which is a first for me. I’ve been hearing from my buddies that they are good eating, so I thought I’d give them a try.

Cooked a delicious dinner, with rice and grilled vegetables. And, ate Sea Robin for the first time - it was pretty good !

Also caught numerous short Black Sea Bass, including one that was 1/2” under the 16” minimum size requirement.

    Fun morning and great dinner.1C331605-F450-40B8-853B-BA75A3C00F91.jpg

Bleed those fish and they will taste much better. It’s like a night and day difference in porgies.

    You bet !
There was a time when I only bled Bluefish. Now I bled every fish I keep for the table, (Striped Bass, Fluke, Black Sea Bass, Scup, etc.). Difinitely improves the color and flavor of the fish. Also, a humane way to "dispatch" the fish; much better than having it die a slow death in the cooler. I keep the fish on a stringer, in the water while they bled out from cutting their gills. Lazy River Outfitters (lazyriveroutfitters.com) made up a couple of custom saltwater stringers for me. Each stringer has only one clasp. Works great.

Anyone know how hard it is to rebuild the JBA UCAs? Including replacing the bushings.

No idea but 2089 out the door (yay no sales tax) for a hard top is probably too good to be true. At least I felt like I just saw disability issues on reviews

Bushings just press out and in with a ball joint press. Maybe add a self tapping zerk to grease?

Reg 2400 on sale for 2200 right now.

Wedges are usually a bit less than a pop up (hard shell, at least. Easier to make one side hinge)

Long of the short - 2200 seems to be on the lower end but still well in the bell curve of prices.

It has zerk spots already, just no actual zerk fittings, but I’m assuming they never been greased before even on Ricks truck, so I’m gonna replace it entirely.

2089 derived from 5% off with their card and no sales tax cuz I’m in NH.

Seems like a lot for a tent, at least RTTs always seem that way to me

We were at the Marshfield Fair Sunday and definitely missed that the bird part of the 4H show wasn't there this year

Oh - absolutely. The Tepui Kukenam 3 is a similar RTT, clamshell style. Which is......

    https://www.thule.com/en-us/rooftop...tents/thule-tepui-explorer-kukenam-3-_-901300

2k straight, "on sale" for 1600. This is like, the base model corolla of rooftop tents. I think a lot of the cost comes from shipping and handling. It's still "just" a 2 person tent, but it's heavy and massive. Takes up a lot of space and people to move it in production.

The sales pitches are that they're easy to set up, and off the ground.

Here's a 2 person cot tent for 350$ that accomplishes the same thing without a ladder

    https://www.amazon.com/Tangkula-2-P...mzn1.fos.c3015c4a-46bb-44b9-81a4-dc28e6d374b3

Don't get me wrong - I HAVE one of those Tepuis I linked above, got it second (third, fourth?) hand - hand me down from a friend who got it from @Ferball so it was a normal price. But I use it now for when I am out with the wife, solo I just do my platform (OR I now have a hammock, trying that out this weekend!)
