Currently have a 2018 OR in Silver Sky Metallic with a matching A.R.E MX topper. Am going to get a 2023 OR in Celestial Silver Metallic and am wondering if the new truck and old topper color are going to clash requiring the topper to be resprayed (my guess is probably yes). Has anyone else gone thru the same situation/color change with an old matching silver topper (doesnt have to be ARE, could be Leer, etc)? I have parked my old rig next to current new ones at the dealer wearing the new silver color and it looks very close. Maybe will really only know when I transfer the topper to the new rig but thought i would ask for input as I could get it resprayed while waiting for the new truck to show up. Thx.

They're two different paint codes. I would wait and see what it looks like and then go from there.

    Oh look, another mod....

Silver Sky Metallic is paint code 1D6
Celestial Silver Metallic is paint code 1J9

Silver Sky has a very light blueish tint to it compared to Celestial Silver which lacks the slight blueish tint.

Yeah, i would not do anything until you see how the topper (in it's current state) looks on your new ride. Sometimes a color variation can look pretty good. Then again, sometimes not!

Black Jade would be very cool but a black topper in the Idaho sun would be brutal - one of the major reasons i go with silver.

I spend 7-10 days sleeping out of it occasionally and the extra headroom is absolutley required if you are going to spend any time in it in my opinion. I built a single sleeping platform that i can sit upright in to change, read, cook, wait out the rain etc. I camped at a raft put in place on the Salmon river awhile back and there were 5 other trucks with people sleeping in right around me and they all had the xtra headroom toppers. Not getting the xtra height when you need it would be like buying a 5' bed and then trying to sleep in it.

The 2 tone looks good with certain combo's. Wait and see.

I had a similar situation with my Silver Sky '15, bought a used topper from an earlier 2nd gen that was painted Silver Streak. Wasn't that noticeable from some angles but still obviously a different shade. I ended up spraying mine with bedliner (needed a few holes filled anyway). Just based on photos it seems like Celestial Silver has more pearl and more "flop," or a greater shift from light to dark based on angle. If it were me I'd get it repainted to match but obviously that can be kind of expensive to do.
