PO442-PO456 codes on an off

Got this codes on my 03 V6 DC on an off but more often now then before every time I fill up .I can smell gas by my filler . About a year ago got new gas cap because the 442 code come on after that was good then recently come came back more times now. I remember seeing someone post part numbers for the seals an hoses about the tank but now I can’t find the tread on this looking for some guidance on this if someone can relate to this issue

Found a cracked hose to the air box

 

The evap codes can be tricky to track down, there's a lot of parts involved that can leak. If you take your truck to a good mechanic they'll be able to do a smoke test and figure out what's leaking. Or you can do what I did and keep replacing parts until the light goes away. If you took the bed off you might able to visually identify the issue.

 

@CrustyTaco yea I was planning on moving the bed an check for cracks just wanted to have parts ready . I found a good vid on Utube about this issue the tech did a smoke test and found rollover valve was crack an seal also .

I do have a compresor just not ready to spend to much for one I’ll check air pump one.

 

If you get your own smoke machine for EVAP testing make sure you get one that puts out no more than 1psi, alot of the cheap smoke testers on Amazon and ebay put out way more than 1psi which can damage EVAP components.

 

The one I posted is 1 psi. I have this model - pretty good quality for the price.
