    Check build thread!
I had a TRD Pro as a loaner. I quite liked the TRD Exhaust. Everything else sounds like shit IMO

After reading this thread I got curious and took a look at the Florida MV statutes to see what it said about exhausts, and was actually pretty surprised to see this on the books:

    (a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle or any other noise-abatement device of a motor vehicle operated or to be operated upon the highways of this state in such a manner that the noise emitted by the motor vehicle is above that emitted by the vehicle as originally manufactured.

I guess it's like window tint. Unless you piss the cop off for some reason no one is going to pull you over because your tint is too dark or your exhaust is too loud. If they did the cops would never have time to do anything else. People here love blackout tint and loud exhausts on their trucks with a 6 ft lift and -100 offset wheels.

Must be a local thing. I've never seen anyone do that to a Tacoma.

Careful what you wish for. I live out in the sticks. You think that Bubba who lives half a mile away won't bother you? Guess again. He'll rev the piss out of his straight-piped POS '83 Chevy at midnight, set off fireworks to celebrate a clean fart, and spend his rent money on ammunition. Still wouldn't trade it for the 'burbs though.

I can hear my stock exhaust at 5:45am when I start up my Sport...like I do every day M-F to goto work.

The sound is not quiet at that time in the morning. I open both my front windows just to hear my acceleration...

The only "loud" trucks I see/hear during the day are other brands of Bigger Trucks--they seem to relish in their footprint trail.

Love my "Taco" just the way it is...with an OEM exhaust tip only!

My Gen 1 had a loud exhaust. (K&N intake, stainless header) It gets a little old over 200k miles. As someone who's had various Harleys for a very long time - I understand the desire/appeal of a louder or more performance oriented exhaust but in short intervals.

For me - it's more vehicle specific. Mustang, classic truck, Harley, Ducati etc - makes a little more sense to spend the money and a cat-back is not expensive for the Tacoma.

The only exhausts I've liked on a 3.5 Tacoma have been Black Widow and the Carven but I like them in 2 minute sound clips. I don't think I'll like them for 300,000 miles.

This Tacoma is my daily and hunting rig - I value quiet more than anything tho I would not be opposed to a replacement exhaust that's just as quiet but smaller/weighs less.

yes so exhaust angles down and you can also ditch the rear mud flap and not wreck the pipe

This struck me as funny this morning.

In Delaware, there are Amish as well as Farmers in the rural areas. Driving west of Dover/Interstate 1/Hwy 13 and you will see there is quite a difference in scenic views.

The Amish aren't as visible but the non-Amish (Farmers)...that's a whole other story.

I started taking I95 North to get to the outskirts of Baltimore since our daughter/son-in-law moved out of Canton.

Houses are widely situated with mailboxes on the side of the road. This is real truck country where trailers are needed for transporting horses/hay and things.

Here's a couple of pics I took on my way to/fro Easton, MD:

If Tacomas had V8s there’d be a reason to modify the exhaust. The V6s just don’t sound good no matter how much effort you put into it.

Was in back of a chevy HHR yesterday with some sort of loud exhaust that sounded like a high performance sport bike with an open header. How one can listen to that while driving is beyond me.

    Conclusion:

Tacoma owners don’t go the noisy exhaust route for various reasons mostly being it’s not needed and it’s been done to death by other trucks to the point it’s becoming annoying and uncool, kind of like the nutters some dudes hang from their hitches but also on the V6 it just doesn’t work. If it did I’m guessing more Taco owners would “loud” up but over all it’s a big fat no and besides we’re just better than the rest and our trucks don’t need to be loud to get attention so eff the rest lol :muscleflexing:

Thanks ya’ll personally I would never make my rig loud it’s perfect the way it is

My truck is my hunting rig. I'm not interested in some loud, retarded exhaust pipes, scaring off all the animals.

I get a laugh how loud some exhaust systems are, yet they're looking gutless driving away.
