FS: Magnaflow Off-Road Exhaust 05-11 DC 5ft Bed

For Sale is a Magnaflow Off Road cat back exhaust, turn down tip after muffler. It is a little loud for my taste and has too much resonance in the cab (which i attribute to the turn down and my truck not having a lift.) I bought it in November, and have driven approx 3000miles with the exhaust.

It is Magnaflow model 17115 and from what i gather fits the 05-11 Tacoma Double Cab 5ft bed with a V6, it may fit other models but I am unsure.

I just want to recoup some of my money and am presently waiting on my next exhaust to be delivered (which is why it is still installed in the picture)

It is listed on EBAY, item # 140512590141 and I would prefer someone local to buy it and just pick it up. $125+shipping

how loud is it at highway speeds? Is it very noticeable then? What rpm's is it at the worst?

 

I know everyone is different about sounds that are tolerable. It was loud enough in the cab to where you couldn't talk on speakerphone in the truck because of the noise. It was most noticeable from 2000rpm-up. This also was after putting sound deadening material in the truck.

Personally though, it sounds good.....just too loud.

 

I have a magnaflow on my 2010 5ft too. Don't remember the model but it might be the same. I too think it resonates too much (around 1200/1300 for me). I've been thinking of selling it too simply because I don't know what else to do.
If there was a way to cut or extend some of the piping it would change the resonating frequency. Any thoughts?

 

I think that adding a resonator, such as putting a small "cherry bomb" muffler on in addition to that muffler would help. I've looked at replacing the muffler and it's hard to find a muffler that fits the length requirements that have a inlet/outlet that is both centered or both inlet/outlet are on the same side. I also think that just extending the pipes to dump by the spare tire or just exiting out the side would help the sound a lot.

I didn't do any of those things because I didn't want to take it to a shop and spend the money getting an additional muffler or extending the pipes and then not liking the results. So instead I bought a new cat back exhaust.

 

Yeah, I'm a little irritated that I spent $500 on a catback and then it resonates so much it's annoying. I'm planning on joining a mod day here in SC and want to listen to other catbacks and see what else is out there.
