Hey guys it's my first time posting on this forum so sorry if this has already been answered. I purchased bilstein 5100s all around and ome 885 coils to go on the 5100s up front. I also ordered the Icon progressive 1.5" AAL and I was wondering if I should leave the overload spring in or take it out. I have a tonneau cover but usually don't haul weight except for the occasional camping trip or hauling loads to the dump. I am installing all of this on my 07 access cab TRD sport 4x4 tacoma. What do you guys recommend doing?

I did put my overload springs in when I had the progressive AALs in my truck. It was a little bit of a necessity as my stock springs were pretty worn and sagging.

The overload springs gave me an extra 3/4 of in inch in lift. The downside is the rivits on the AALs road on the overload springs whenever I had weight in the bed. Looking back it wasn't the best way to do things, but it got me by for a while.

I would say leave them in…I decided to take the overload springs out and now my truck squats in the rear a little because the Icon AAL really only gave me about an inch of lift.

I wound up buying the Headstrong Off Road 1/2” shims to install where the factory overload spring used to be, because I needed that half inch of lift and I’ve read it’s much easier to install that than it is to put the overload spring back in if you don’t leave it in the first time.

would the 5100s have enough travel with the overload in?

Leave it in and grind out the rivet on the overload if it interferes with the add a leaf.
