I am installing aftermarket led grill lights and the manufacturer recommends red wire to cruise control. Which wire is the hot wire?

@caribe makaira is the resident electrical guru. He should be able to point you in a direction.

I'd not touch that wiring, but pick another source.

How will you be switching it?

It has an app to control the lights. Was thinking about connecting just to the battery, but don't really think that's a good idea. Any helpful tips will be greatly appreciated.

An app? So you only want them on when you remember to do the app? And will you remember to turn them off when you walk away?

Just curious. Haven't been aware of such a thing before now. Which only means I'm as behind as usual. o_O

Not sure how that will work. I'm assuming they will turn off once the vehicle is off. But of course, I have to get power to them first.

That depends on your wiring them to a circuit that requires the ignition to be on to have power. Why not wire them to the DRL circuit so that they come on when the DRLs are on?

Yeah. The guy you recommended said pretty much the same thing. But what color wire would I look for?

Hard to say exactly what will be best for you as I don't know the power specs of what you're powering, but the simplest idea would be to grab an add-a-fuse and tap into the drl fuse for power if only needed while the vehicle is on (10A and less). Else find a circuit that is on 24/7 if that's what your mod requires, but I would not hack up the cruise control wiring at all that sounds like a very bad idea.

^^ This. Don't cut/splice wires if you can ever avoid it. As long as the load makes sense use an add-a-fuse and tap the DRL fuse.

Add a fuse is the way I'm going. Thank you all much.
