this is a stupid assumption because no perfect manual that answers all questions has ever been written.

in this particular case, it doesn't answer this perfectly legitimate question. if manuals answered all questions, people wouldn't be asking online.

It seems you're the only one with this question, I wonder how you sleep at night with all these OCD posts and threads you make. Sounds like you need a valium

There are times in life where you have to make choices and hope it works out.
This is one of those occasions. I agree with you that the best option is to assemble the engine and hope for the best.

While I give OP credit for trying, this particular question/ concern is not an issue if the engine is installed and timed properly.

If I were this concerned, I’d pay some one else to do the work for me. And I don’t mean this in a condescending way to you OP. I absolutely, do and will, pay someone to do things when I have no idea what I’m doing. I nor anyone else can know everything.

The engine is definitely NOT timed with the timing chain OFF like OP says.

OP, you’ve already been told that this is an interference motor several times now (Nd4spd, Tor), and it is. Don’t believe us? Keep spinning the cam until you feel the interference… hope you know the difference between spring pressure and valve bind.

what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Just verifying that cams are installed correctly? There is a VERY detailed procedure for this written down in the FSM. If you don’t have it, you’re in the dark just like a hooker without a lamp post. I’m happy to email it to you. Lmk!

is your timing cover off, too?

Remember... OP is the guy who argued with everyone about doing a leak down test with tap water lol.

I am saying put the engine together WITH CHAIN and move on. No need to spin the engine and worry about a problem that doesn’t exist YET.

To be fair if you google the question you get about a 50/50 split inference / non-inference.

I did some quick side-of-the-road research back in July when I had my P0011/0012/0016 debacle and couldn't find a straight answer.

@Torspd would be the first I've personally seen that has confirmed (in person himself) the 1GE-FE is inference.

    Holeee moleee :smash:

somehow nobody pointed out how he suggested in the very first post that he’ll bring all 3 pistons on bank 1 to the same vertical position…. Lol!

so the truck is still apart some 9 months later? With water in the engine… yeah, she’s dead, jimmy!

engineers design things not fix or build them. Hence the plethora of useless threads. Months and months later I’m wondering if he even owns a wrench.

I was around for the original Interference vs Non-Interference thread. I’m of the opinion it IS an interference engine.

And that is based on other well known members findings and experience with the engine.

As for me, I don’t care if it is or isn’t.
I have no real need to find out. I’d do as the FSM says and bolt it together and spin it over. It’ll go 1 of 2 ways. And you’ll know quick which way it went.
