    Been a bit bored out in SLO county with the near by trails that I've been able to find online and what not. Was wondering if there are any good groups or suggestions for the area, coming from Colorado so a bit spoiled by those trails but any good suggestions would be really appreciated.

    Might go out there next weekend, how technical is it? Cause I'd love to get a little bit of flexing and crawling action.

    It’s pretty chill, just a steep fire road with amazing BLM camp spots along the way. Tougher trails, not so sure, I havent really explored the central coast

    In any case still sounds fun and worth the drive for the view, thank you!

    You're not going to find anything in SLO like you have in Colorado. The California coast is pretty well "spoken for" when it comes to land use. It's private or for "foot" traffic. To find any real flexing or wheeling that you're used to, you're going to have to head for the hills or the deserts to the east - not an easy thing from SLO - but there's plenty to do once you get toward the eastern part of the state.

    And don't forget neighboring states. Since even the eastern part of CA isn't a one-day trip, Nevada should always be considered; parts of it are closer than heading all the way south to somewhere like Anza-Borrego or Joshua Tree.

    Some ideas (none of them around SLO):

    Trips by State

    Damn, that’s a really good suggestion. I really appreciate the help man, thank you! Can’t wait to try out some of those trails.

    Your best bet for crawling in/around the SLO area is Miller Jeep Trail a little to the South: https://goo.gl/maps/Mqb2nyynSPvDeFxE6

    There are several OHV areas within a reasonable distance as well, but not as gnarly as Miller. Ballinger Canyon, Turkey Flat, Hungry Valley/Gorman, Rock Front and of course Pismo/Oceano.

    Go just a little east of Bakersfield to the Lake Isabella area (about 3 hours from SLO) and you've got all kinds of trails and off road areas to choose from.

    I am in SLO.
    I've done a few easy tracks around Santa margarita and Arroyo Grande. Easy stuff, but good for an outing with my boys and a good lunch with great views.

    I've been on the look out for additional spots, but I've yet to venture too far.

    @turbodb
    Great pictures - I'll be sure to read through your adventures.

    I’m 150 miles north in Santa Cruz. A few miles of legal dirt roads here, a few more miles of private, often gated and/or fiercely protected private dirt. Often with illicit activities you don’t want to really stumble across. So I’ve actually taken day trips down to SLO to explore a bit, though mostly LP National Forest roads and not the tougher trails. You guys down there are lucky as we have zero motorized trails here except Hollister, and Clear Creek pretty far away.
