    Hey all,

Anybody have experience putting in a set of 3rd Gen TRD Pro Fox shocks on a 2nd Gen?

I picked up a set and am looking to put them on my 2014 TRD OR this weekend. Curious to know if anyone has some feedback on the install or performance?

They will fit, the truck will likely sit nose high if you have factory springs in the rear, especially with your topper.

Take some pictures and make sure to measure before and after ride heights!

Make sure to spray a little penetrating fluid on the top nut on the rear shocks the day before you tackle it. They can suck.

Previous owner added a leaf in the back. I’m currently on 5100’s at the 3rd perch all around and the truck has just a tiny bit of rake in the back. I’m hoping the pro shocks sit at nearly the same height.

Although nobody would be twisting my arm to pick up a nice Deaver leaf pack to go in with the fox pros.

Pro will probably perform well. As long as they're not thin. Some are. Like Icons for $1k being thinner than $700 6112.
Time will tell how it sits. IDK if the TRD Pro Fox is adjustable or not. Or if parts exist to make it adjustable.
There is AAL or spacer, AAL and spacer combined (different sizes), or a whole new leafpack some of which are adjustable to different heights such as Icon RXT option2/3 etc.

What year Pro did they come out of?

They will fit and on a 2nd gen & they should give you about 2" lift over stock height.

Not sure what @TacoTuesday1 is talking about them being thin or not? But the Pro Fox coilovers are not adjustable.

The shocks appear to be 2.5” shocks. They have 2,000 miles on them, came out of a 2022 TRD Pro.

I’ll definitely take some measurements for before and after results. I have the pro leaf pack and was thinking of swapping my AAL over to the pro set.

Pro shocks are in. My truck was at 22-1/4” RF, 22-0” LF, 23-0” LR & 23-1/4” RR before install. I was running 5100’s all around at 3rd perch w/ an AAL in the back.

My truck is now at 22-1/4” RF, 22-1/4” LF, 23-1/2” LR & 23-1/2” RR after install. Looks like I didn’t lose anything really, just gained a bit in the back.

Impressions - Truck handles much better now, feels more planted and firm if that makes sense. The Fox Pro shocks seem to be good at soaking up road “chatter” along with eating the big bumps and whoops no prob. I’m going to take the truck out bushwhacking for the holiday weekend, give the shocks a good test on some of the gnarlier mountain lake trails I haven’t visited in a while.

I’m very happy with the Fox Pro’s, especially for the money I paid ($1500 for a 2022 set w/ 2k on them). Solid upgrade for a 2nd Gen Tacoma, but I think you will need an AAL to be somewhat level and I wonder how much the weight of my canopy makes a difference in the rear
