I live in update NY. Ordered a sr5 double with 6 ft. bed April 1/2022. Told by dealership #1 truck will be in July 1 ish. July 1 they call say now not being built til late July and will get in later August. . On August 5th they call and say will be in late August. I get car loan, sell my current car. 1 week later they call me and say DELAYED, not going to be in until SEPT 25. My loan approval and lower rate good till SEPT 15. SO I was SCREWED. I FIND DEALER #2 who says they happen to have a truck, 5 ft trd off rd... deal fell thru with someone and I can have Aug 18. Driving my kids car for 3 weeks. UGH.

THEN 2 days ago, I get call saying 28 tacomas at this dealership #2 not going to arrive UNTIL SEPT 28 WTH?!?!?!!? Remember, my loan expires sept 15. SCREWED again.

SO i feverishly call countless Toyota dealers around NYS. I call a place that they JUST GOT IN 2 days ago a TRD OFF road, LOADED with moonroof, rails, all safety features, upgrades sound, leather ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES... came in from Watkins Glen race track, home of nascar and form 1 racing ... This dealership (my 3rd if you are keeping score) was sent the truck that was used in the parade of Nascar drivers at Watkins Glen racetrack... I guess there were like 12 of these tacomas that got sent to various dealerships around New York State... well this place got one...unallocated. SO I bought it. RED, LONGBED, TRD OFFROAD...loaded...absolutely beautiful rig. my first tacoma... the trials and struggles all paid off. 3 dealerships, 3 cars and i ultimately got the color and 6 ft bed which was my initial dream tacoma. I can't wait to experience this truck. Thanks all for reading!!

Tough stressful journey but sounds like a perfect payoff. Did you pick it up yet?

Test drive it and make sure that NASCAR sticker doesn't make it only steer left :) Seriously though, congrats on a happy ending to a long stressful journey!

OP, I went through the same stuff. Was moving to the east coast and months ahead of my arrival I started calling dealers and laid down money on an allocation for one that told me they would have "The Truck" by the time I got here. Welp that still hasn't happened and I've been here 2 months. Long story short a local dealer had a barely used OR and I jumped all over it.

Another dealer I was talking to called me about a PRO last week for $65k.......lol
