I recently had my 2016 into the local shop for a fluid refresh, oil change, brake fluid and power steering fluid. The tech noticed a transmission cooling line leaking. Great catch .. I had see a fluid stain on my driveway but figured ac condensation.(wrong). the shop quoted price but I said no I think I’ll be covered by Toyota warranty for drive train. Called steeler and they said bring it in and it’s is likely covered. I get a call from the steeler the next day. No not covered and it’ll be $1000 to repair. That call ruined my golf round ha ha. So I call the original shop and said not covered so I’ll be bringing it back (half the price). I then looked up Toyota power train warranty. It says all internal lub parts and (drop down) lines(my problem) and about 8 other items. Armed with my iPad and a picture of the Toyota page I go to dealer to fight for the fix or pick up the truck. Original service person out to lunch(literally) so I got another. He looks at paper work and says not covered. I showed him the picture and he said sarcastically do you want me to call Toyota and you can hear it yourself, I said yes. Well 20 minutes later and 3 Toyota reps later my truck is being repaired for free under warranty. Message don't take the first no, research and if it looks possible push it and try again. (True in life too)

Knowledge is power! And you didn't go in there with Karen guns blazing, just armed with facts and a wee bit of determination. Well done brother!

I had those rusting issues on my gen1 tundra power steering lines even spraying them down once a year with fluid flim....the road salt and brime does a number on them...ff just wash's right off. This time when i bought the tacoma i cosmolined them well. So far not a hint of corrosion on those lines.

I called the steeler yesterday(Tuesday) after being told they would call me Friday. My Service rep not in.. I got another.. amazing.. BAD news. The part won’t be received until September 23. Yes that’s over 3 weeks. No offer of a replacement / free rental. It ok since I have another car. Funny that a week earlier they sent an email wanting me to trade it in or sell outright. I looked at their stock, lol they didn’t have any Tacomas that I could see. I bet if I sold it or traded it my truck would be ready for sale in a few days.

There's empty lots at these smaller toyota dealerships for new tacoma's here also. You have to go to the real big dealers that have their dealerships in several cities to find a few to pick from.
