I like him, his channel and generally agree with a lot of his POV's.

Makes me feel pretty good tho about buying a 22 with a MT. I intend to over maintain it a little (compared to what I've done in the past) so I'm not skert.

I like his channel. Seems like a great mechanic, but also appears to drink a little too much Toyota flavored kool-aid. It's been a while since I've watched this video, but I don't remember him addressing the bad valve/head issues in the Taco V6. And doesn't he dismiss the timing cover leak as rare and limited to early 3rd gen years, which isn't necessarily accurate?

I like his channel and his delivery. Does a great job and obviously is passionate about his work. He definitely has a flair for Toyota, but he also calls them out when things really are problematic. I don’t think for a second TCCN would lead someone astray intentionally, or because of rose colored glasses.

I’ve got a ‘22 TRD OR with an MT on its way (it built and currently in “processing” stages), and I fully expect it to be as good or better than both my previous ‘06 and ‘18.

I guess he makes quite a few tacoma owners on tw feel all warm and fuzzy with his video's, but myself being older owning many past toyota's take his video's with a grain of salt. As far as the toyota kool-aid, i think he's addicted to it.

I've owned 3 Toyotas prior to this 22. Generally - the trucks and my step-mother's Corolla have been excellent. The Tercel wasn't. That was a POS. I put 2 engines in that car before 100k. My 22RE was amazing, my Gen 1 was pretty good. None had anything major (save Tercel) but minor annoyances and I didn't baby either of the trucks. Corolla was 80 miles a day, 5 days a week commute.

Having also owned Chrysler, Honda, Ford and GM in the last 20 years - the Toyotas have all been heads and shoulders above with the Ford being about even. It's kool aid but it's also justified in many respects.

GF currently has a Mini - that's been pretty ok. Dad and brother own Ram and Jeeps, Ram's ok, Jeeps ok but only 20k on them. BMW Z3 was average at best.

My wife had a corolla to before the prius, both been nothing short of excellent. Only truck that let me down was an 86 toyota extra cab that the 22 re engine had a crank failure due to a crankshaft key shearing on it. It was out of warranty, but after a toyota rep was sent to look at it, the key was deemed to have a metallurgical failure. The engine was rebuilt no charge. I put zillions of miles on those truck's when racing my bikes all over the eastern half of the u.s.
