Here is So. Cal. We get these little yellow spots, mainly on top surfaces. Lots of debate as to what they are. Most common theory is bee pollen. This stuff stains paint right away and permanently stains white vinyl. I have been trying to keep waxed to help remove.

Anybody else have this issue or know what it is or how to remove them?

I too live in S.CA and know exactly what you are talking about(its bee shit) but I wouldn't think its a CA thing since bees are everywhere. The stuff still remains even after a wash, I usually just use a wet rag and scrub it off. I really don't get it that bad, maybe 10 or so spots in like a weeks time

Yup, pretty sure it’s insect dumps. My wife’s gunmetal blue JK seems to get a lot of them, my quicksand OR, not as much.

We get those yellow spots here in Louisiana too. But what's much worse that that is artillery fungus...

    ^This.

I've had these little yellow spots on all of our cars for decades but never had any issue removing them or problems with them staining. They always come off with a regular wash for me but not always on my first pass, typically need to go back and give some of them a quick second scrub with the wash mit or my finger.

Also, sometimes you can get what is commonly referred to as "rail dust" - basically bits of iron based particles that rust and leave a yellow/orange dot embedded in the paint. These are much smaller than the bee poops, are quite stubborn and usually don't come off with a regular wash. I use IronX a couple times a year to keep on top of that and use it often on my wheels as well to help keep deposits from building up on them.

Probably, but then again people have a shit ton of bees around here, especially if you live close to an orchard.

Just remember that if you use a product like that you need to re-apply wax in that area since these heavier duty cleaners will strip your wax/sealer off the paint.

Personally, I have found there's almost never a use for that stuff unless sap has dripped on the vehicle. Bugs usually come off with regular washing for me. Either way, I'd only be using it as a spot treatment, never large areas or whole panels. I can't imagine why anyone would need a gallon of it unless they owned a detailing business or carwash. I've had the same aerosol bottle in my garage for the past 8yrs. Probably used it 3-4 times in total. And that's not because we don't wash our cars often. We have 4 vehicles and they all get washed regularly except the garage queen.

Cool, that's your thinking from your perspective, unable to fathom how the rest of us operate and what we deal with. I'll take your posts with a grain of salt.

Keep in mind this is the DETAILING forum. There's a whole lot of OCD over here... that's kinda what this section is for... Some of us like to keep our stuff in tip top condition and actually care about things like preventing our paint from fading or becoming embedded with contaminants.

I always thought that stuff was just tree sap from my apartment complex's parking lot, but bug crap sounds more like it, lol.
