2007 Offroad with 2" lift/icon uca's. Thinking about getting Toyo mud terrains and new wheels. What are your thoughts on going from 16 to 17"? Advantages/ Disadvantages? I don't mind a little plastic trimming but want to avoid the cmc. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
edit: wheels... either 16X8 or 17X8 with 4.5 backspace and 0 offset

Your only going up marginally, so shouldn't be too many problems. Especially since you aren't going to a 285.

Lot of money for 1/2" lift, paying for new rims & tires.

Yeah... not concerned with the added lift... thought maybe going to 17" would give the brake calipers more clearance. Also, seems there's more wheel choices in 17".

I’m not moving away from 265/75R16. Method 704’s for the win.

I got the 704’s intended for the Tacoma. I wouldn’t do anything besides a beadgrip or a beadlock wheels since I am a firm believer of performance over looks. I don’t run any spacers.image.jpgimage.jpg

I go down to 10 psi’s with full confidence on the beadgrips.

Yes, but it was involuntary, I installed a 3g OR suspension(710 lb coil springs). Naturally that put me at a leveled stance, then after understanding the platform a little better I installed 1/2” top spacers that I made, the front look great but then, the back was squatting a little and totally hated it. It was not by much but enough that I could see it. Then a friend had a 6 AAL pack(total 8 leafs) that he removed of his truck to install the dobinsons heavy duty full pack(he has a bunch of weight on his truck) and passed along the old one. Based on calculations. I removed my overload leaf and add the bottom 3 of that pack and put me at the height that I wanted which is the one in the picture and more Important the ride quality got improved by a ton. Next plan is to install 5100’s and extended brake lines in the rear.
