Small lift coming for my 2017 SR, and I don't have a reason (or none that I'm aware of) to get rid of my stock steelies. I do want slightly larger tires, and I've been aiming for something in the 265/75/16 size. The closest thing would be 285/75/16 for some tires (e.g., Cooper AT3).

Before I go too far down this rabbithole, have people encountered any tire size limitations (e.g., backspacing, offset, etc.) with the stock steelies?

(FYI, I'm going with the OME 2" lift kit: 887 light load front coil; 90021 soft valving; and 2.5" rear 111R standard / medium load Dakar Leaf Pack; not sure about UCAs. I want to maintain a decent ride on the road, but have capable tires for backcountry truck camping a couple times per month.)

So width comes into play before backspacing.

The steel rims have 7" width, and 285's suggest 7.5 minimum. Meaning the tire would have a bulbous effect and mostly center wear.

Ideally with a 4 banger its best to stick with maxing out with the 265/75R16 size. This size has the most selection.

The bigger 255 85 16 size will rob gearing but will sit best on the rim and perform better offroad.

Thanks - that is super helpful and settles the issue for me (almost). It's a SR 4x4 with V6, but it seems like the 265/75/16 will be a good choice (though I will look into the 255/85/16).

    255/75/16 would be my choice.
