I know this is an old thread but I'm in the process of doing this mod (waiting on switch to be delivered).

If i don't plan to light up the switch at all, which 2 wires from the green harness do i connect to the 2 wires from the garage remote.
    green and black
    or green and red 1...

and to clarify -- I plan to power the "remote' using the DL2032 battery it came with vs powering the remote off the truck.

and if i don't want the switch to light up to i need to ground the wire???

That’s what I did. Check my build thread. Ground is for switch illumination only. I think ch4x4 and AOB may use different colors on their pigtails.

Thanks! Saw it in the screen shot from the build thread! I’ll give it a try hopefully tomorow.

but if I decide to illuminate the switch, then I should use the ground?

Yep. Ideally PWM dimmer. @kmorgan3 can supply a T for that.

    Worked like a champ.

From a standard Toyota switch from ch4x4
I connected green and red 1 to the garage door opener.

then decided I needed illumination because the 2015 Tacoma lower center dash is so dark.

grounded black to the truck and used a fuse tap for red 2.

    works perfectly!

question - how many switches do you think the fuse tap can handle for illumination?
I tapped into the 10 amp taillight fuse, and have 2 switched connected to that tap for illumination.
