Still a far cheaper situation than a bike slammed into the side of the garage. YMMV. Haven't had that sort of senior moment yet, and if I do it might be time for a recumbent tricycle...

Thanks @calzonical! I'll dig around the used/spare bike parts bin my wife says to throw away or donate but I tell her no way, this stuff will be useful someday.

Don't mess up the cab with dirty wheels.
Something like this can help keep them in the bed out of the way.

Finally got the RCI bike mounts. It looks cool for sure.

Drawbacks are probably that it will take more time to setup (4 times per ride), bike is more exposed to elements (compared to the hitch rack) and I have to think about the wheel. This bike mount feels much safer than the hitch rack, though. Both for stability and crash avoidance.

My son’s bike is coming this weekend, that should be sick.

Had a few people ask about the aluminum crossbar so figured I'd share the info with everyone...

I got it via Amazon but here's the manufacturer's link:
    https://8020.net/1515-ls.html

    Corner Brackets:
80/20 Inc, 4336, 15 Series 4 Hole Tall Inside Corner Gusset Bracket

    Crossbar:
    80/20 Inc, 1503-LS, 15 Series, 1.5" x 1.5" Tri-Slot x 60" Aluminum Extrusion

Fashioned some blocks with t-nut fasteners from an old plastic cutting board that slid into the track and secured everything with security bolts.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I made something on that order a bunch of years ago that I use inside my cap. I can remove or install it in seconds and the tires ride nicely in front of the cargo bar.

This fork mount is different than what I have but will do the same thing. With the round bar, you can set the fork mounts about 45* apart and keep the handlebars from banging, depending on how wide the cap is and bars are. Sorry, no pic.

I got the medium which works great. But if I were to do it again, I'd get a large so I can swing it out with the 1up arms in the open position. Also, the Rakattach will decrease your departure angle if you wheel.

Years ago, I built a simple bike rack using PVC. It was a fun little project with my (then) 11 year old son. The end result works great, was super cheap and is still going strong.

Nice idea, but I have a short bed ... just verified from wheel needs to be removed with a locking fork-mount.
