Not sure why some still have to try silly things. If you haul firewood, motorcycles, etc get yourself a trailer,,, the right tool for the job, or if it’s a one time deal, pay someone to haul.

A cord of wood is whatever the dude who cut/is selling it says it is. Who knows until you actually see/stack it. Bring a open trailer with you and no worries.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Your state's weights and measures division would probably disagree with you. That is a defined commodity for sales purposes, short someone and an inspector may be coming to chat. It has happened here in WI and people were fined pretty heavily.

    I’ve done it, yes thanks
I just don’t pile it til the bed bottoms out, even in a full size, still use a trailer for loads that are more than payload, cause math.

You guys all realize a 'face cord' is like 1 row of firewood 8' long right ? Its not like you're hauling a yard of concrete

I have 5ft bed stock sr5 taco had it stacked tight two logs high above frame rails not sure what the weight was - Taco took it wasn’t happy but made the 23mi journey-it was mixed seasoned wood mostly maple/oak cherry. I ended up with a 4x8 pallet 4ft high. I decided after that to buy a cord delivered was cheaper/and safer.

    a 4x8 pallet 4' high is a full cord , not a face cord

there's a running joke on another forum i'm on with some canadian's about how american news sources are always trying to compare sizes/weights to obscure things. "a pot hole as large as 2 washing machines" "police recovered 150lb cocaine stash as heavy as 2 full beer kegs" or that toilet that they advertise with flushing golf balls, because that's what turds look like...

the trick is to sell in small enough amounts that the inspectors can't be bothered by it, but large enough amounts to make a profit.

I was speaking from a practical reality perspective to the dude wondering if it would fit, not legal, but who knows, maybe i drank too much Heileman's Lager and ate to many cheese curds during my stint in LaCrosse to be sure of anything ;-)

Face Cord is not a unit of measure used in this area, though I read it around the country where it seems to be an imprecise measure at best. Here is a long bed over loaded for sure with about 1/3 of a cord of red oak: (Edited to correct bed size)

I don’t recognize nor endorse these stupid emotional measurements of wood.

You are right, it is a long bed. Sorry. Still only one third cord. Not my truck, but my wood, right up till the cash changed hands.
