All I see are people with blown up v6 at 35k miles and all kinds of problems maybe I should of went with the 4 cylinder. My first gen Tacoma had 280,000 on its 3rz

The market is still hot if you want to sell.
I’ll take the odds, there’s hundreds and hundreds of thousands 3.5s out there. I don’t blame the ones venting about the loss, but it’s the minority by far.

Mine has 50k with half of those with 37” tires. I haven’t broken anything yet.

Power steering is getting rough which I hope I can just flush it and the problem will go away.

Got about 110,000 miles on my 2016 Tacoma with no major mechanical issues so far. Definitely an improvement from my old 2008 subaru legacy and 1995 bmw 328i, both of which crapped out at around 80,000 miles.

You should definitely never have bought it. The handful of people with engine problems in this forum is more than enough of a sample size to generalize the overall reliability of the million and a half 3rd gen Tacomas sold, plus the multiple millions of other Toyota and Lexus models also out there “living on the edge” with this janky 3.5. You just never know when it’s gonna blow.

I know whenever I read a thread about someone’s 3.5 developing a miss or some other issue (which I have no clue how they’ve maintained or treated their truck), I always relate it to every other Tacoma out there, because otherwise where are all the riveting threads about driving to work, and making it back home?? I think I’m gonna start a thread about how I got in my truck this morning, the engine fired right up, and I ran errands and didn’t even have one single issue in almost 14 miles. If only people went online everyday to talk about their lack of problems, then we’d really know.

Just trash, that’s a flame troll question. While a few had eggs are bound to occur; they are as you treat them. 55k and over 10k of that towing a 3k trailer.
It’s a great truck. For me. For many of us.

My Impreza shit the bed at 103k. Spun a bearing. Rebuilt the motor and it’s had another 45-50k put on it with no issues. This truck motor is strong as long as you keep up with maintenance.
