So, I currently have a 21 TRD Sport, I do light offroading with, nothing crazy. We often head up to VT or NH to go wild camping, but they are along logging roads, etc. Recently, I read an article about skinny tires being slightly better for what I use mine fore (if I drive to work, I am looking at about 50 miles round trip, in a day).
Stock tires are 265/65/R17. I was looking at 265/70/R17, but am now considering 255/70/R17. I am not looking to lift anytime soon, so I am OK with that size.
Question to anyone more knowledgeable than me-is there any trade offs I need to be concerned about? I know there is less patch contact, but I cannot think of this being a negative, as I will not be doing any rock crawling in the foreseeable future.

    255 80r 17 is a 33” tire that fits a stock suspension.

In most cases the 265/70R17 will fit a stock 3rd gen. You may need to remove or modify the mudflaps/air-dam but on stock wheels they should fit without rubbing.
