So I just wrote a check to put my name on a Tacoma TRD double cab with a 6ft bed that should show up mid October. I've been driving around in a Jeep Cherokee that does ok, but it's not ideal for hauling gardening supplies or lumber when I need to do some home improvement, and overall it's not a *great* vehicle, with the usual Jeep QC issues (first battery needed replacement quick, power tailgate acts up at times, etc...).

It's almost paid off but I figured I should get into a long term car sooner than later. I've had a Camry for over a decade at this point and it's a great car that's now my wife's daily driver, so a Toyota seemed the way to go for a truck. So here's to a couple more years of car payments.

I got lucky and my local dealership had one with only a few upcharges for "ceramic coating" and I had to get the TRD Premium package, but it still ended up being cheaper than a more basic TRD because the other dealerships were charging a TEN THOUSAND dollar dealer premium.

Now to play the waiting game, but in the meantime I decided to get my wife an early Christmas present and install an upgraded Sony carplay unit in her '12 Camry because it's not even at 100K miles yet.

I'm also waiting for a Tacoma to arrive to replace my Cherokee (a 2017 Trailhawk). I had a much better Jeep experience, I do find my Cherokee to be a great vehicle and I'll miss it, but I also needed the ability to haul stuff.
