Avis picked me a brand new Datsun Altima when I was in St Louis a few week. Had like 1300 miles & black... not a bad ride for rolling in that 'hood. Anyways I was backing into a space in a parking garage downtown & even tho the thing was beeping like all hell & I'm looking at the back up cam, I still feel like I "tapped" the wall. Who cares since it's a rental right. So I get out to look & not a scratch on the bumper. Next night, same spot but figured out the car wouldn't let it self back into a wall, shit box applied it's own brakes. So needless to say the rest of the trip I just backed into a spot & sent it till it stopped. Make those nannys work.

unfortunately there was at least one incident where someone ran over their child in the past month without this “nanny system”. Accidents still happen, for the small annoyance to a few of us, these systems save lives. Now if we cared more, we would catch up to European safety standards and testing as well as actually test people and ensure they are capable of having control of a heavy deadly weapon rather than hand licenses out with no renewal requirements other than paying a fee. Blah blah, this is going to turn into a personal freedom thread and “they’ll just remove themselves from society” type replies.

I ain’t got no gun (or the need for one), and if someone is in the position to steal my shit then they are in a worse place than I am. Just take the change and usb cables and try to not break more glass than you need to.

I thought you were going to get a ski haus rental?

idk man, I don’t think they’ve gone up though, to support you, that’s a speculation I’m not supporting it with data.

It wasn’t meant to be a debate, just a post that I was surprised to have a major brand with variable safety systems on various trim levels. Nothing more.

As far as the useless babble: this is the BS thread- which people in here will applaud me for moving the talk out of the for sale thread lol.
idk if it was any different than the earlier comment that the nanny systems cause more accidents. The unfortunate and more important thing is that even the best driver will have something happen or have a bad day or be exhausted or distracted and I really hope that it doesn’t come at a time when my kids or yours don’t pay attention and get killed. Accidents will always happen but if it saves one life I’ll put up with the annoying beeps.

that’s why I started this question is that I understand Toyota doing different packages like off-road, tech etc. but not standardizing safety is interesting because there really isn’t a drawback other than a slight annoyance. Whether that’s similar to Europe? Idk but I don’t want to Google it lol.

I would rather have my truck not broken into either and don’t leave valuables in there, it’s more inconvenient to go through insurance or pay for the glass replacement :D I think he probably meant the same, just hard to communicate over an internet post.

There was another incident about 6 months ago same thing, 2 year old got backed over in the driveway. Wasn't a great call.

The real moral of the story here for car break in's, is don't leave valubles in your car lol

LiDAR doesn't have to be expensive. The iPhone uses it in some capacity. To your point about poor people, I bet most of them have an iPhone...

Regardless, there's no pulling you back from this rabbit hole. Godspeed.

they make em in 35s and I'm contemplating another set for the tow rig. I switched to ATs which are fine but I don't know that I like the added off-road traction more than I liked the onroad behavior of the Michelin

there are so many other factors at play here. You can’t possible link the two together without considering other variables

    Seriously, what's with the battling?

Every Azzhole on this forum has an opinion, Feature's/ packages all have different value, or use, for each of us. Who cares :burp:

What's next, What tire is best for offroading/ winter driving? or Why did we ever move on from riding horses to automobiles. :stirthepot:

Now will someone please answer what's the biggest tire I can fit on a stock Tacoma? :D

That’s some good gaslighting there. I see you’re new here, where have you been refining your technique?
