For years I've been learning as much as I could from the wealth of knowledge in the LT section on TW and AFAIK this is the most extensive Toyota LT section on any forum.

So I decided since my 03' 4Runner V8 is starting to come together, I wanted to post up some stuff without cluttering up the BS thread, or Hi-Jack DKs Tacoma install thread, but it could still live in the TW LT section.

Since the 120 platform covers a lot of vehicles, I also wanted to make this thread available to anyone else who wants to post up their Toyota 120 or 150 LT project.

    So here we go:
I had a TC Dual Shock-stock length on for years and it did pretty well, but I got more enticed by the day to go LT.

Toyota's 8.0 diff got the 4:56 Nitro gears, axles, and ARB upgraded housing I purchased from a really good guy in San Diego, and the electronic T-case was swapped to a manual out of a 2012 4Runner.
    Screenshot_20220818-164120.jpg 20220208_115838.jpg

The LT took awhile to get started on but it's getting there. The fenders will go on in a month or so. Word of caution if installing the MC tab gussets, as I overlooked the Zerks on the DK lowers clearing the gussets. So provisions had to be made.

Here is the first shakedown YT video. Obviously I have some tuning to do.

Looks good! How does the rear feel in comparison now? My rear end is already being way outperformed with just the DK stock length setup and no bypass.

A 4wd V8 4Runner is the perfect beast! We’ve had two V8 4Runners, but 2wd. The one 4wd we had was the 4.0, and it’s just not the same.

I took a 4.7 out of a Tundra and put it in my long travel T100. This was my favorite truck (so far). The little V8 screamed with 35’s and 529 gears.

Front was an old Duffco kit adapted to fit the wider T100 frame with fox coilovers. Rear was 64 inch Deavers, a cool frame pocket notch and Fox triple bypasses outside the frame rails.

This was my little homage to the Ivan Stewart Toyota.
    Loved it.

Thanks! Years ago I did a Califab rear link system and a King 10" 2.5 smoothie w adj. to go w the stock length TC kit that I had. Travel numbers are a little less than 10" though. So it's kinda keeping up, but the front still needs a lot of tuning also. I'm gonna be wearing out my super bumps for the time being.

I have plans to redo it w 14" triples, but we'll see how that goes.
I'm am way over my head and lacking fab skills, but learning everyday.

Nice Rig! Love the 2UZ, and paired w 5.29s? Had to be a lot of fun.
Did you have it paired w the A340? I've heard they're a little stronger and some of the 1st gen Tundra guys have swapped over. I hear the A750 2nd gear can have problems. With a 4:56 gear and 34.4" tires, I live in 2nd gear lol.

Yes, I want to say it was an A340e, if I’m not mistaken.

Whole setup was stout, once we worked the bugs out. As I recall, we used a Dakota Digital speed calibration tool to modify the signal from trans internal speed sensor before it got to the ECU. Without it the trans was constantly in the wrong gear.

Once we worked it all out, I put 100k+ miles on the conversion with no real problems. California smog legal, working heat and AC. Toyota to Toyota makes for a very reliable engine swap.

Holy crap that's cool. I haven't seen many done up T100s, much less with a somewhat modern V8. That must've been a hard one to get rid of.

I built it over twenty years, but in the end I had grown up, had a wife, two kids, needed a four door and wanted 4wd. In the end it just sat in the garage getting a couple hundred miles a year.

Then boom, life flipped upside down and I spent 2020 trying to survive cancer.

When I finally got out of the hospital, I still didn’t have a good long term prognosis and I had zero desire to maintain the beast.

Sold it to buy my kids a 4 seat rzr.
(Cancer took dirtbikes away from me too and I just wanted to spent time with the kids and wife in the dirt - they all still ride)

    Adulting is hard.

I have no regrets and I’m no victim! I’ve led a very favorable life, am thankful for that, and have no intention of slowing down. We all have different struggles, I’m sure there are others on this forum that have been where I am. I got this.

Quality time is making the most of every moment.

My goals are making lasting memories for our kids.
Work hard, play hard. Nothing for granted.

If anyone ever wants to go off-road Big Bear Lake area (So Cal) we spend every summer playing on the mountain. Winters in the desert.

Finally got the glass installed earlier this year. Added a nerf bar and some aluminum to the bumper. Front factory skid was toast. She's running pretty good too. You Tube Short
