2013 TRD too much rust underneath?

    Speaking as one who lives in the rust belt, it's not terrible, but I have a few concerns. First, it looks like the coating the previous owner used is rubberized undercoating. That stuff used to be pretty popular, but in the last 10 years or so, better products have come on the market. Unfortunately, rubberized undercoating can trap moisture and actually speed up the corrosion process. Oh, and one can use it to cover up rust that has already started too.

    Second, somebody has taken a rattle can of flat black to a number of sections of that truck's underside. You can even see some fresh runs in the paint. That's not always a bad thing, but I always wonder what they were trying to cover up.

    Yeah... this owner seems to not know much about trucks - he takes it to Jiffy lube every 5k and didn't know about taco rust issues or the class action suit. The black paint job is my biggest concern. And I am not in a rush to buy. So I'll probably pass. Enough time will get me a rust free truck from CO or the south.
