I would try the Hotel Chequamegon: https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/b...the-hotel-chequamegon/propertyCode.50135.html
    or the Washburn Inn: https://www.washburninn.com/
another option might be the Cobblestone Inn: https://www.staycobblestone.com/wi/ashland/

Wow! Thanks for putting this together. Are these the scatchy trails…where are the sections you would consider the worst?

There is one section on the upper (morning) run that has a large mud section, and then the run up to the fire tower is scratchy. May be a tad unnerving on the sand descent, but there is a paved return for those who don't want it. The mud holes can be run with 31's, so a stock truck can get through... but we almost all have a winch or tow strap. There is a drive around, but it is longer.
The best by my standards is the afternoon run up Mnt Whittlesey. Very scratchy and you will need 4 lo as there are some rough rocky sections. No real get around here, but should be no problem for a stock truck... Everything else in the lower section is fire road (but beautiful.)

Are we able to stay in the same campground for both nights? That would be ideal for me if possible.

Not sure why I didn’t think of this before. Should have named the event the T3 Toyota Tigerton Takeover!

I hadn't thought about that. I remember @pearing mentioned camping in two different places. But, if we can stay in the same place, I'd be ok with it.

My thought is that 150 miles might be a bit ambitious. If there are ruins, we're probably going to want to check them out. And, we usually like to stop every hour or two and stretch out. We can always just see how it's going, and adjust the route as needed.

I might want to climb the fire tower as well.

I was proposing a different one each night. Here is why (I am not wed to any particular plan, so do what the collective agrees on.) The first night (Friday) I was suggesting Birch Grove CG where you have stayed in the past. It is closest to Bayfield. However, there is a water issue there: it doesn't really have potable water. The vault toilets are fine and open. The only reason to use this site is proximity to Bayfield and room.

The second night I was looking at Beaver Lake CG because we will end the day over in the Penokee's. Has water and vault toilets. Long drive to get to Bayfield from here. There are other campgrounds, but nothing as remote and close to Bayfield as Birch Grove. Long drive the wrong way for all of you to stay second night at Birch Grove. Just trying to help with egress on Sunday for you that have to head a long ways south.

    James,
It is easy to cut chunks of the morning out to shorten this up-I added some nasty mud holes for you... as I recall you don't avoid them at any cost! There are TWO fire towers. The first one is close to the Birch Grove CG with a fun sand descent out for those willing. This one I have climbed. We can cut out the figure eight loop and just go there. My guess is a 9-10 start would have us done there by 11:00 ish. I know it takes way longer with a group than a single when doing this-the Pipeline with you guys was my first real group run.
From here go do lunch either at a place or in the woods-or stay on top and do it at the fire tower! Anyway figure to be going up Mnt Whittlesey no later than 1:00 to give everyone time to explore the ruins and summit to the second fire tower. My guess is that this will easily consume 3-4 hours. If everything goes well and Jason doesn't need to do any landscaping... Then off to camp for eats and stories.

I don’t think potable water is an issue for most of us. I typically bring a 5 gallon cube of water and it seems everyone else is similar. On the way home, we like to take the TWAT, and that runs near the first campground and takes us right to the Delta Diner (yum).
I don’t want to overtly influence the tribe, but I’ll probably stay in the same place both nights. The time to tear down in the morning and set up the next night is probably a wash compared to just driving back to camp, and for me, I’m not really ready to drag the mobile pleasure palace on all those interesting trails!

I can bring a palace too, just like the back of the truck more. If someone can't find a hotel I can drag the trailer up there and provide housing. Two double beds no amenities.

Some of the guys sleep right in their trucks, I just can't drive around smelling old socks all day. Best to keep that stuff at the campsite.
Besides, I'm trying to get the wife to be more into this stuff and the tent is just too harsh for her :(

I talked with my wife and she stated she would just sleep in the truck if can’t find a hotel. Not sure what that will cost me

We should have time on Friday to talk about it. I just know how pokey we can be sometimes, lol.

I'm looking forward to seeing some new stuff!
