So I have a 2021 Tacoma SR5 2wd that has LSD. I did my first burnout yesterday with some friends and only my right rear wheel spins while my left rear in stationary, I shouldn't have this issue since I have an LSD not a open diff, right? Is there something wrong with my diff, am I doing it wrong, or is there more to it? There's still a lot for me to learn so I can be completely wrong lol.

I have to ask, what makes you think you have a true LSD in the rear end of your truck?

To be completely honest I've never looked and I only think that because my dad said it does and I trust his word due to how much he's done with cars. Do only the 4x4 have LSD? I wouldn't be surprised if 4x4 has LSD and 2wd had open diffs lmao. As I said I have a lot to learn.

No tacoma has LSD since the late 00's.

You'll see auto-lsd in your dash, but thats simulated.

You'll never get a 2 tire fire unless you modify your truck.

What your truck has is "Auto LSD", which is essentially an open differential which relies, to a certain degree, on the ABS system to keep the lower traction wheel from spinning.

As for which trucks do have a mechanical LSD, I do not believe there are any, however, there are some, like the TRD Off Road and the Trail Edition which have an electrically locking rear diff.

That makes a lot more sense lol.
What modifications would I have to make to get this?

As others have mentioned, 3rd gen tacos do not have a mechanical limited slip differential. They do have several traction control modes with various names that use the ABS brakes and throttle to assist the driver.

I’m surprised you were able to do any sort of burnout. Typically traction control will kick in and limit the throttle to avoid high wheel spin. You can turn TRAC and VSC off with a long push of the VSC Off button. This will give you fun mode.

There is more information in this thread.

LSD usually takes about 40 minutes to kick in, give it time.

Yeah, it doesnt work like a posi (or sure-grip for the Mopar guys) from back in the day. Its all computer controlled via a mix of whats already stated above. Those days are done. Sorry, but at least you tried...Props.

Last mechanical LSD rear I believe was 2008. LSD now is brake controlled.
