Totally frustrated with dealers here in Oregon. I've contacted 11 dealerships asking if I could get a detailed quote on a stock 22' TRD OR M/T 4 door with a few specified accessories/options (PIO blackout package, lift, and performance exhaust). Only three of them have come back that they will, one sending me this stating he'd have to find a performance exhaust and it doesn't include install, taxes, and "other" fees....

    upload_2022-9-9_12-58-54.jpg

WTH am I supposed to do with this? Starting MSRP $46,585!!?? Obviously the word stock and Off Road isn't in there (But Pro is!) and where the hell is the Blackout package? I requested this in writing folks. So, he is either illiterate or trying to bone me. If I was stupid enough to take this as an answer, there's no header...who the hell wrote this? He wouldn't even have to honor this ridiculous "quote". I asked him for a more specified and detailed breakdown...still haven't heard back. Everyone else I've heard from says they can't order specifics from Toyota! So... I guess I just get a "surprise" price when an allocated truck matching to or close to what I want comes in? Any tips on dealing with these jerk-offs? Is my wording off on what I should be asking for? Does anyone out there have a certain dealer here in northwest Oregon they can recommend? From what I understand, you can have a dealer send in a request to Toyota and Toyota can either honor or deny it...am I correct on this? If so, is it just that these dealers don't want to do the paperwork and extra time...wth am I missing here?
    OK.....rant over....
    Thanks everyone!

By the long post it seems you certainly are a bit frustrated. Fortunately for dealers at the moment, have no shortage of buyers waiting to buy what's on the lots or buy whatever they can get their hands on so its not surprising they're blowing you off, unfortunate but that's the world we live in and Tacoma's in general in many places are still hard to come by. Keep trying or maybe someone will chime in with a dealer that will offer you a better experience but if you've already reached out to 11 of them and no dice then I'd try looking into dealers in another state.

I "built" the truck I wanted on the website and printed it out with the MSRP prices and gave it to my dealer and told them that's what I want. Not sure if this will help your situation but it made it a lot easier to communicate what I wanted to the dealer. Good luck.

The dealer is thinking - "I can spend 45 minutes with this email or I can keep selling every truck that rolls in with little to no effort on my end."

Ain't right but it's what could be happening.

The 2023 builds are starting soon - you'll likely be looking that for a MY I'd think.

You don't really get to choose what you get. They can only show you what they have. They have way more buyers than they do trucks.

They do not. That is where I ended up getting mine from.

Also, after she handed me the keys, she said they don't get paid on commission either.

This. Right now all the sales guy needs to do in order to move units is breathe and blink.

No joke, I went for a test drive with some slack jawed drool-chin who didn't say one word during our 15 minutes together, he just shuffled to his desk after and about fell over with surprise that I didn't follow him.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. They don't need to work hard for you anymore. It's the seller's market. They don't care if you buy or not. There is someone eager waiting to buy it from them. I'm surprised they haven't told you to f off.

None to speak of, just enjoying it for the moment.
How much more "detailed" do you need if you build it on their configurator??? Add state tax, license/registration fees...not sure what you expect, dealerships and in particular Toyota and Tacoma's are in high demand, you are one unknown potential customer, they are actually selling vehicles to real actual customers and are not likely to indulge your request since they remain busy selling every single Tacoma they can get their hands on without providing detailed quotes to these buyers until they come into the dealership and are ready to put money down on a vehicle. I wish you luck, but I would suggest you adjust your expectations and look at the bigger picture.

currently its a seller's market but does not mean you have to take what ever they hand you. you can walk away and wait for the truck and deal that make sense to you. let other people overpay for their truck. in the small one dealership town I live I walked away from two trucks before buy the third truck from them because of the over charging. "gee I'm sorry but I won't pay $45,000 for a 3 year old 2wd with 50,000 miles but I will pay $26,000 for a brand new 2wd with 300 miles"

    Did you put a deposit?
I just bought t other highly popular toyota. I was looking for it in WA and OR. 1st -none were immediately available in desire config, 2nd -in transit to DL bs, 3rd- overpriced.
You need to get a quote from the web, go to the dealer and order it. You will have to wait to get what you want or pay crazy prices.
I waited 7 months for my other toyota.

Hell, I had those issues when I was gathering quotes pre covid! Best thing to do is just buy a truck. Then YOU customize it.

Dude. Don't buy aftermarket parts at the dealer.

Just buy the truck as close to factory/MSRP as you can argue them down to, and go add your own shit after your get it home.
