Passenger side front window stopped working.

Just want to know if there are known issues with Tacomas and power windows. (Wish they made them roll-up, hand-crank).

I poked around on youtube and found this quirky solution, which as expected did not work at all.

My wife had the truck and rolled down the window to ask someone something, and it did not come up again.
Now we know the reasons why guys never ask for directions.
Asking directions is too big a risk to take for the window not coming back up. lol.
She is very frail, but extremely heavy on cars for some reason.
She currently has a trail of three left for me to fix.

Let me know if there is a known non-obvious weakness that could cause this, before I start tearing down the passenger door panel.

Sometimes the contacts in the switch controller from the driver sides get corroded/dirty. You can tap on the switch panel and if it goes up, most likely thats the issue. Does window go up from passenger side?

 

Can’t see what video you linked but a few years ago this happened to me and it was just a matter of taking the switch out and cleaning the contacts. May or may not be your problem but worth a try and easy to do.

Beating around the panel was the first thing I did but did not work.
Ok then, it seems I will remove the panel.

There is no way to just post a link without it showing the video inline distracting from the text.
So I had to remove http:// in front of the link just to post text to avoid the entire video image show up.
Just add http:// in front of the link as posted or activate "URL completion" in your browser settings to automatically resolve domain names.

 

A couple years ago mine did the same thing. Only thing is about 10 minutes later it started working again. It has quit working several times over the last two years but always starts working again on its own. I cleaned all the contacts in the switches real good but that didn’t help. It’s a very intermittent problem. Sorry I don’t have a solution. Looking for one myself.

 

You can swap to manual windows if you really want my self my arms are to short to reach the right side.

Known problems not really just old age and worn parts.

***Was the window lock switch closed by mistake?? I do this all the time .

the right door switch has 2 sets of contacts in neutral the left door Master switch controls the right window when the right switch is used the second contacts are used to operate the right window. Switch contacts get dirty or break after 20 years or so.

Window motors do fail but most often they just slowly die.

You can use the "Link" function (looks like a chain link) from the edit menu bar...

I did, and it still showed the video inline.

 

Took the entire door apart today and removed the motor and actuation arms, wiretied the mirror guide on the one side and installed a wooden block on the other. Window is fixed solid until I can replace the motor. But since I dont ask for directions I might just keep that window that way or get a hand crank door panel, as I see some 2002-4 came out with that. I just dont like electric windows.
