Ok I’m fairly new here and late to the party I know but it seems like there may be another option for a roots style supercharger. I’ve been digging around for options other than rotrex and found this little guy. Its for the Toyota Hiace but fits the 2TR-FE engine. https://www.blackhawkjapan.com/en-us/products/blitz-10195. I emailed them pictures of my engine but was unable to verify fitment. I think the main difference is the ecu layout would be different on our USDM models. Granted this supercharger looks relatively small compared to the other unit posted in this thread but I’m assuming thats due to the layout of the hiace engine bay. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Looks like you have the same model Taco as the Jack Ass below. :D I think being you have the same lighter weight Taco a DIY turbo would be the way to go… :notsure:
He was told by the vendor that Magnuson was Supposed to ship blowers soon. They will then be able to ship out Magnuson kits.

Lol Hayrider we’re probably pretty close. I’m in SoCal close to AZ. Sounds like every other business since Covid hit everything is painfully slow. What tuning kit needs to be used with the magnusson blower? Haltech? Linkecu? Aem?
We’ve got a beams blacktop 3sge 6spd and we’re probably going with linkecu for that one. Ive heard great things about haltech.

Sorry, I’m stupid what’s an “beams blacktop 3sge 6spd”? I would love a Nissan CD009 or the new CD00A trans as 1st and the OD gears (5th & 6th) very close in ratios, just the Nissan has an extra gear.
Also well being you’re in So. Cali. then you should be close to LCE in Lake Havasu. Here’s a short video the tuner son made. You see what they use! Make sure to enlarge it and tab on the volume in the lower right corner.

2.0 200hp 3sge is the motor designation. It came in different flavors. The 3sgte was the turbo variant that came in the 2nd gen Mr2. The 3sge beams blacktop 6spd came in the Jdm Toyota altezza I believe. We’ve also got a 1st gen Aw11 Mr2 with a 20v Blacktop 4age for circle track racing. Picked the motors up out of jdm yards in LA and San Diego. Considering what they go for now we got them substantially cheaper way before 2018.
I’d love a Magnusson blower but it looks like playing the waiting game. I was just curious if anyone had any experience with Jdm versions as I’m sure there is minor variations between platforms. Im pretty sure the hiace has the cab over the engine like the old Toyota previa minivans. So the 2tr in the hiace probably has a more compact design on that application.

I truly don’t know if anyone here has any experience with JDM engine’s my best guess would be either @05Taco4x4 or @Torspd as they seem the most knowledgeable two *I* know of here. I think @BassAckwards has had the most experimenting with different power mods w/ the 2TR-FE.
This website is mostly 4x4 owners. With a lot of Over-lander’s w/ over size rubber, suspension, gears & lockers and camping.
Me I’m just an old fart trying to learn and pay others that are more qualified to do jobs that make me nervous, where I don’t have the experience, knowledge or proper tools. I’ve learned the hard way just to swallowed my pride and to pay somebody else to do things I have no experience with.
Other wise I do what everyone else is doing installing a GM LS or newer LT power plant w/ a Tremec 5 spd. Kind of hard to argue w/ 355 NA HP on reg. pump gas then a few little mods it’s easy to push 400 HP.
