Who’s got back country camping area suggestions?

I have a tiny lift, very little armour and a truck I hate to scratch.

But we are picking up a RTT and looking to go camping with our girls. Hoping to get out of the LMD and not windup in a typical campground.

    Any recommendations?

Every dog and their cousin seems to have an off road capable rig these days. The closer to the LM the harder it is to find a nice place without yahoos. Weekends and especially long weekend with nice weather will be very difficult.

Also, you will be limited a little bit by stock armor and not wanting to scratch the truck. I can relate tho. If you didn't mind some damage I'm sure you could get into some less assessable areas to find a nicer spot that others may not.

You may find areas around Squamish, Pemberton through the Duffy Lake Road (HWY 99) to Lillooet area as a start.

Most don't like to share the good spots for obvious reasons.

You say you are picking up a RTT. I guess the one in the photo is not yours? If not, then I'd start with a new RTT at a Provincial Camp site to try it out first.

yes this is a fair bit of advice. And we may simply heed that to boot!

in order to pick up my CVT … it’s gotta be mounted for ease of transport. I’m evening debating scooping it up in Oregon and bringing it home (but then the border PIA).

Waiting to hear if I can snag locally through a distributor, pricing etc.

Either way, the catch, it won’t fit in our garage on the truck. Sooooo, it will have to be stored when not in use. But as I don’t want to be storing it prior to use…. I’m trying to think of a family sneak away for a couple nights to try it out.

As we wont need the tent in the ground and all of the hassle with that, the fam “wants to go away; no campground daddy”.

but I concur a campground might be the safest, and simplest opportunity.

Look up Marshall Lake rec site in the Bridge River valley (Gold Bridge area) - there are two sites on the lake but the one at the north end of the lake is great. The rec site at Mud Lakes is nice as well. If you do head up there soon pack some warm clothes as it can get chilly at night this time of year.

If you come up the canyon from Hope you don't really need to air down but coming over the Hurley through Pemberton is a way more scenic drive and that road can be much more forgiving if you air down. If I was going to go to Mud Lakes then I would air down as well.

No need to air down if you're gonna go through the hurley from Pemberton. I traveled that road tons of times to gun lake by gold Bridge it's fine.

Love the Hurley when its open. Should be in good shape this time of year. https://isurvivedthehurley.com/ Meager creek hot springs in Pemberton was awesome before they shut it down. Lots to explore around the Gold Bridge Bralorne area including the highline road from Shalalth to Darcy. @TacoPacific
Check out Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park as an easy stay destination with your kids and new RTT.

Good and dirt cheap recommendations sought….

    1. Electric Tire Inflator / Compressor to work with a 3rd Gen Taco.

Mostly will be used for airing up … and kids toys etc.

    Thanks in advance.

The pictured unit is 40$ but maybe that is too little. I had a $400 Dewalt prior that bit it.

And don’t really wanna splash out too much. But… I hate spending too little and regretting that also.

Might be a bit more money but I picked up the M18 Milwaukee tire inflator. It helped that I already had batteries. Works quite well. I like the complete disconnect from vehicle for full portability.

Question: which one you got for the Milly? I see I have some options.

2848-20 from Home Depot. I find they generally have the best prices for these sorts of tools. KMS or Summit will occasionally match or just beat them on sales... always worth a look.

Used mine tonight to inflate some tires on a hand truck. Took seconds.

Thoughts on keeping level with weight on the truck.

    I have a 21 taco DCSB, put a 180lb RSi Smartcap on it, a 60lb 270 awning and soon a 210lb RTT. So a total of 450lbs.

I run the Toyota Stock Leaf Spring with the TRD performance shocks.

My question is with this much weight, I assume I’ll have some sag, and I’m wondering the least expensive way to resolve the sag.

Part of the year I’ll remove the RTT, and then I won’t want to inherit a crazy rake at those time.

In the past Dobinsons have been recommended but I got a bit of a… you should do an entirely new suspension from a local shop when I asked there.

    Any thoughts?

Now I have no experience with this, but the Icon RXT leaf packs come highly recommended in here. They are adjustable to the amount of lift and weight you want to run. They are the ones I am considering when the time comes.

hmmm. I’m guessing Option 3. I just wonder how much take is going to show when the weight comes off. TW threads seem to like the ride quality quite a bit.

Are you thinking of changing your front springs too?
