Hi good people; yesterday I tried to start my 2021 TRD Sport Tacoma and it wouldn’t start. I noticed that maybe I hadn’t depressed the brake peddle all the way. I stepped on the brake peddle all way but it wouldn’t start and after several attempts, 4 or 5 times, it started. I figured maybe I’ve got battery trouble but next day I did a load test and it tested ok. Also tested the battery with ohm meter and It reads 12.54 with engine off and 13.85 with engine on. I purchased the truck in May of 2021 and it has 5800k miles on it. Any body have any ideas or suggestions to my problem.

It’s under the bumper to bumper warranty. Call Toyota roadside assistance and have them come sort it out.

First thing is, you don't drive it much, so the battery is probably weak, 12.5 isn't the whole story. Get it tested.

My truck would not start unless jumped at 33 months into the warranty. Jumped it to get it to my dealer, and got a free new battery. Let your dealer make it right.

Thanks all for your responses; the plan is to drive down to the dealer and have them check it out

Did you measure voltage on the actual battery post or on the clamp?

I would check the voltage at the clamp and see if it is lower than the post.

If it is, remove the clamp and wire brush it and apply some dielectric grease between the two and reassmble.

Yes I check both at clamp and post and voltage is the same.

Well guys; took my Tacoma to the dealer and after performing several test, they found the battery was not up to par so they replaced it. Hope this fix the no start problem.

You should be okay until the replacement battery dies. My replacement battery is going on 4 years, so Toyota batteries are really hit or miss.

We leave in the dessert where it gets extremely hot so the batteries are good for the most three years.

Right... here in Phoenix 2 years is about it 3 years is pushing the envelope.
I would have put a tiny bit of pressure on the gear shift to make sure it was properly seated ( if auto-trans ) otherwise if manual trans I would have depressed
clutch and moved in and out of some gear then re-engage clutch.
