Alright… I’m at my wits end and about to yeet my truck off a cliff…

Recently switched my tires from 265/70/16 to 275/75/16’s along with some KMC wheels… and now my tire rubs the back of my wheel well full turn.

Thought I’d solve the issue by installing my ICON stage 5 system…. Nope.

Thought I’d solve it by getting an alignment or adjusting caster. Nope.

The KMC wheels are neutral offset, so I’ve considered a negative offset to see if that fixes it.

At this point I’m so frustrated that I’m sure I’m overlooking the issue because I’m blinded by tire rage… every time I make a turn into my driveway that rub sound is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

Any ideas? I’d rather not do the body Mount chop if the solution is some simple adjustment I’m overlooking…

(I’ll find a picture of the rub spot tomorrow when I have better lighting and a better attitude).

    Cab mount chop and trim.

Coilover lifts, spacers, etc. do zero with regards to creating clearance for tires.

The most you can do with an alignment without an adjustable upper is max out the lower rear cam to push the wheel forward and then try and use what's left to get into spec.

    Oh look, another mod....
The solution is extremely simple: Put it back the way it was. Revert back to 265/70's

CMC for sure. It will fix the issues right away. You gotta do this.

Also your alignment sucks if thats what they left it at.

The cmc takes an hour at a good off-road shop, it’s cheap and if they are good welders you won’t even know.

Do the cab mount chop if you really want to stick with the setup you’ve got. Get the plates from BAMF online and have a good fabricator/ shop do the cut and weld. Paint them black and it will look like it should be that way from factory and you’ll never even know it’s any different. It’s really not that big of a deal.

Guaranteed that is probably only rubbing your mud flaps. I have almost the exact same tire/wheel specs. I run 265/70/17 nitto ridge grapplers on TRD 4Runner rims which are +4 offset so close to 0. I rub my front drivers tire occasionally backing out of the driveway but it is only on my mud flaps, if I remove them I have zero rub. No way you need a CMC, that would be if you were trying to run 285 tires

It’s 100% the wheels you chose. I have the same exact tire on a OR wheel, stock suspension, no rubbing. I added a 1.25” spacer, no rubbing. Now, I’m lifted 2” with the same setup, still no rubbing. There is an entire thread devoted to 265/75

Dude I know right? I called the guy back like "I'm not an alignment expert but this seems like garbage..." but his reply is that he couldn't adjust the caster anymore. I went to a place that said they did suspension lifts ASSUMING they would be best suited to do an alignment on a truck with aftermarket suspension buuuut... I think I gambled and lost on that one.

Thanks all for the help. Definitely going to buy the plates for the CMC and just pull the trigger on it. My buddy has the welding/trimming equipment and the vehicle lift for it so we'll tackle it once I get the plates in the mail. Local shop charges $500 for it so that's enough motivation for me to get off my ass, buy the paint, and sweat it out in the garage on our own...

I too was in the same position where I got 265/75r16 good year duratracs but then upgraded to a 33 inch tire and had rubbing even with my lift and alignment. I didn't want to do the cmc but I finally gave in and have zero regrets. A good welder will make it look like it came from the factory like that and if you take your time with the plastics then you can do as little damage to them as possible.

I have the method nv305s 16s currently running 315/75/16 . I did add 1.25." spider trax spacers . What I'm saying is maybe get some spacers if your considering cheap route . Might still run sum

I have to chime in on mid flaps being the culprit too. I currently run the little nub that protrudes the furthers on the flaps and nowhere else with 255/85r16....maybe your rubbing the same?

4 or 0 offset would be your best bet.

    Update:

I've removed the stock mud flaps (good riddance) and have been slowly bending the pinch welds out of the way. There's that loooooower part of the pinch weld that's a thicc boy... so it won't bend with brute force. Trying to avoid cutting those notches to bend the pinch weld since I've been reading the horror stories of people getting their feet wet due to the cuts intruding into the cab itself. Got the plates for the CMC in the mail, just waiting to remove my cast on my stupid leg so we can knock it out. Removing the mud flaps and bending some of the pinch weld gave a liiiiiiittle bit of of space, but ultimately at full lock it's still a chode hair away from rubbing the cab mount.

I'm already at 0, and I can't go with a positive offset... it's Texas, and we like our tires like our women... wide and busting out the sides. :D

(also I had issues with my tire rubbing the nub on my spindle with the positive offset... can't freakin win... lol).
