I've decided to mount my Tekonsha brake controller to the right side of the steering column in the little curved cubby hold below the 4wd selector knob. It's a goofy location as there are no flat surfaces for ease, but I will get past that. My question is in regard to what is behind (above) the area that I am considering drilling into for some self tapping screws(red arrows)? I tried to see up there and feel around but I can't really get a good sense. Does anyone have any knowledge about that blind area? Thanks in advance, TJR

It’s empty back there aside from the 4wd selector switch harness.

Thanks. I don't plan to use screws any longer than necessary. Is the 4wd harness up and out of the way? I was thinking about trying to pop out the 4wd switch out to get a look into that area.

yes it routes behind the radio and over to the passenger side. The older trucks that pops out real easy but I think for your year you may have to remove part of the radio faceplate to get to it. Might not be a bad idea to have it out while drilling just to double check.
