Just got a 2018 sr5p 4wd. Totaled a 2016 sr5p 4wd. I took my fn fx pro wheels and wildpeaks off the totaled 4runner and just put them on the new 2018. As expected, the TPMS light came on. Went to discount tire and they recalibrated them. Light went off. next day at some point, the light now blinks when start up and will eventually turn back on. I matched the spares air pressure with every other tire which is around 34 psi.

Do I need to go back to discount tire and have them do it again or will it eventually learn the new psi and eventually turn the light off on its own?

    Yeah.
I'd take it back and have them validate the codes they programmed in. Maybe something didn't take? I don't think the spare has a TPMS sensor unless you added one, and I don't know that there is a place in the ECU to program one.

Also, I'm not sure the 4Runner shows actual pressure (our 2017 does not), just the light when a tire gets out of range. I don't know enough about the sensors to know if there might be a compatibility issue (are there different types of sensors for just low pressure as opposed to providing actual pressure?).

it doesn't show actual pressure, just out of range I believe. Shouldn't be a compatibility issue between those 2 years. I'll give it a week of driving and then go back if it doesn't turn off.

I would take it back and see if they can see what’s going on.
