Wife ran over a rock on the way to go paddle boarding. She said the car was stuck with its two front wheels in the air. I checked out the bottom, everything looks OK except for a little scratch on the diff, plus some scratches on the center jack point. I'll need to get the skid plate bent back into shape because it took the brunt of it.

I took a couple of pictures of the damage. What do you guys think? Do I need to take it in to the shop?

If it was big enough to do that sounds like it was more in the boulder category :)

Glad she's ok and the truck isn't much worse for the wear.

    Oh look, another mod....

Your truck is fine. The real question is: Why are you letting your wife drive your truck!?

Ran over a rock big enough to lift the front end off the ground? While trying to go paddleboarding? Please tell me theres pictures :D

Those parts are pretty solid, probably not an issue there. Id be more worried about how the truck got un-stuck and if anything else might've been hit during that process

If it cycles in and out of 4HI and 4LO and there's nothing weird going on, it's fine. I'm not sure how often you cycle the 4wd system but a slight clunk while switching between modes is normal.

Thanks for all the input! I was suddenly very convinced of the utility of skid plates when she told me. No leaks or anything, I'll just keep an eye on it. In the future I think I'll make her use her car...

Dude I did this on a job site with my work truck(f150) bad enough I had to get a grader to lift me off with his blade. Totally beached that whale. Truck was perfectly fine just learned to watch out for big ass rocks laying in the way.

I've been there, however I don't quite think mine looked that bad.

A little bad luck and not the best spotting made for an interesting ride home. All in all good times.

Here is the inspection video of the guy who fixed mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13_sjCCuMZg&t=5s

Oddly enough my truck didn't shake after that damage, but I regeared to 4:88 shortly after and about 60 my truck made a weird noise and other then the rear view vibrating the truck seemed fine.

If it isn't leaking oil you should be fine.

Idk, the op's truck appears totaled to me. Only thing its going to need is replacing. Seriously, its fine. A little black touchup paint, and the rest will buff out.
