I’m looking at this conversion also, but want a E-brake with a manual transmission.

it works... Kind of. They need to be adjusted often and can be noisy. Unless they're freshly adjusted the one I have on my Tacoma and the crawler will hold the truck on a slight incline but nothing more so I leave them in gear anyways

Sounds just like my standard e-brake setup, pull it hard and a strong gust of wind will push the truck. I never trust it on the trail, always leave it in gear and chock the tire with a rock or something.

I bought a kit to convert mine, vendor screwed me and I ended up buying a Full Float FJ80axle out of a junkyard, way cheaper to swap that in then the kit. Warning is you need to cut off the suspension brackets and have the ability, or know someone, who can weld on new spring perches and shock mounts. Other than that the axle is damn near bolt on, and works great with the stock Tacoma brake system. Parking brake works, but you need to be fairly mechanically inclined to set it up, it's not hard, but not a newbie project either. With a Spartan locker, perches and the fj80 axle purchase price I was still cheaper than the kit I was going to buy.

I don't run a parking brake on my truck and it's a stick, I only hook it up for my state mandated safety inspection then I disconnect it, but it will kill the truck in 1st gear when it's hooked up.

If anyone does go this route PM me as I found some tricks to get the stock Tacoma driveshaft to bolt up to the fj80 flange and stuff like that.

Just run a triple drilled :D

Best factory axle IMO. And if you're lucky, find yourself an elock 9.5.

You don't even need that, the CV end of a Tacoma driveshaft bolts right up to it, or swap the axle end of the stock Tacoma yoke over to the fj80 one.

So your parking brake is essentially .......a split log.
