I got an email from Toyota the other day touting the hybrid Tundra, that sucker is rated at a whopping 19 MPG:rofl:. Now here’s the electric version that you can’t charge because of power shortages.

I was alway surprised Toyota was first the hybrid game with Prius and it's taken them so long to get hybrid or electric tech into the trucks. Adding a battery pack and controller against the cab and a parallel motor to the propeller shaft would have been so easy for them.

Considering you get more MPGs and more HP and more torque (at a lower RPM) on that Tundra that the previous model, I think its a step in the right direction.
these are both TRD PROs from their respective years.
that 437 hp/583Tq gets the same gas mileage the Tacoma does pulling a 6000lb truck

I do like the idea of an electric Tacoma, but I've said it many times, we just aren't there yet. Seems like Hybrid is the way to go for now.

Toyota's strategy is to get more people into hybrids sooner, as that has way more positive impact on the environment than a handful of people driving EVs. This video has 0 to do with reality as it references a 2023 Tacoma which is not a new model. EV Tacoma may arrive in 2025 potentially.

I just bought my wife a new Prius last week to replace her Prius C. The C got 52 mpg, the new bigger Prius is already getting 54mpg. You would think that a hybrid truck could do better than 19 mpg.

Man, they're coming out with a new electric Tacoma every week now.

Wait, what's that? It's not out yet? But all the threads on it...

This stuff is becoming too complicated and expensive imo. Getting overly ridiculous.
