I think I'm getting paranoid because @gasparic104 is over the 03 being on standby. Truck sounded different today and was extra torque-y when shifting between D and R in the lot today. I'm just getting paranoid now. Pretty sure the cupping on my tire finally wore even and that's the noise difference I'm hearing.

 

Was it warmed up or were you just starting out?

 

The lurch was post-commute. So she was nice and warm. but the truck was extra creaky pulling in. Might be time for some Energy Suspension or something bushings all around.

That guy is a moron. You literally reaching under the truck. If he would look for 10 seconds he would see where he needs to go. Also four bolts holding the top rail piece down is not a big deal as the top rail piece is just a piece of plastic. As far as both holding the rack in if they're good bolts they'll hold just fine. You're not meant to sideload the rack anyway.

I didn't read far enough to see why he has a problem with that company, but he didn't even buy the stuff through RCI, he bought it through somewhere else.

nah no beer just on the ranger you have to unbolt a lot of things plus we ran to the parts store to get a socket and played with my pup for awhile and bs for a bit so not exactly 2.5 hours for that. give me a sec and ill show you all the stuff you gotta take off

Where that is job #1, remember? After drinking. And a whole bunch of other shit my brother in law has told me about.

 

ill admit its a lot of shit to take off.. but once its off it goes in and out really easily but since i had never done it before we did take out time just chatting and workin on the truck so as stated it took longer then it really should have

 

so first thing you have to do is remove the two nuts on the spindle holding the speed sensor and the brake line. then unbolt the sensor, after that remove the main nut on the spindle that holds the sway bar in place, then unbolt the tie rod, then unbolt the cv axle, after that unbolt the upper control arm, once thats done the spindle and lower can move freely buuut it wont fall out of the way to far unless you pull the cv out of the hub, after that you unbolt the two bolts on the bottom of the control arm for the coilover then go to the top 3 and unbolt them, after that you grab the spindle and force it down out of the way and have a buddy push down on the coilover to reseat it in the arm so it then can get out of the upper bucket, once thats done its out of the truck and then repeat all these steps and either put red lock tight on all the components or replace all the nuts if its the 4th time they have been off the truck (according to ford) so overall its a lot of things to unbolt compared to the old tacoma but its not hard once you know what you are doing. we took our time to not mess up and chat since we havent hung out in awhile and he hadnt seen eevee in a bit either so ye.

so everything circled must come off to get to the coilover

 

not a fan of that design either... why not just use the existing rails? is it just so they can use a cover?

 

Yeah, but other designs wrap under the edge of the tonneau so idk why ypud make it this way.

 

ya you got a point there, i wonder if its aftermarket mount that doesnt belong to rci maybe? but unsure i wouldnt trust it personally

ya its rather annoying tbh... but oh well once you have done the process you can get it done really fast we did the passenger side really quick where it just flew back together

 

That's the best part... The lazy son of a b****** didn't even finish the job. All they did was chopped up the exhaust and then left.
