I’m amazed at the cars that are coming in with well over 100,000 miles on them and people are spending 4 to 5 thousand to fix them.

Almost at 140k. And a decent chunk of change into it this year, but not that much.

I think a lot of people prefer not having a car payment, so they decide to keep their old vehicles running.
This 2022 Tacoma is my first vehicle financing in about 6 years of time.
I still kept my 2009 Subaru which is nearing 200k miles as a daily driver. I have done maintenance to keep it running, but thankfully my friend happens to know a lot about Subaru's, so we do the work together and I try to learn what I can.
When the motor blows one day, I'm going to donate it to Cars4Kids.

I could see if the rest of the car is in good shape but both the body and interior are bad in both these cars.

I did poly swaybar bushings and new bolts, new front disc/pads with new rear drums this summer.

Every project that I've been doing I've been replacing all the nut and bolt hardware also. Screw dealing with rusty parts going back on especially with the suspension upgrades.

Those pretty UCAs will be going on Friday. Paying a shop to install and alignment while im at work.

How much had you done prior to the 150k besides regular maintenance?

Personally prefer a payment over repairs, but can see that changing down the road.

Had to come in to the office today for a meeting, that I really had no business nor point being in. But whatever...

Made me realize how much I dislike being in the office, amongst other things.

I started preemptively changing and upgrading stuff around 125k miles 2.5 years ago.
-5100 rear shocks and TSB OEM leafs first.
-Rebuilt the front suspension while upgrading parts last summer. Bilstein 6112s on first clips,Inner/outer tie rods, lower control arms, poly sway bar bushings/links, extended stainless steel brake lines, camber adjusters. Along with all shiny brand new nuts bolts and clips. If it was used to hold something on that came off, then it got replaced. All OEM Except for shocks and brake lines lol.

    -wet okele seat covers front/rear
    -upgraded headlights and fog lights.
-swapped out to all LED interior/exterior lighting.
-rebuilt my AFE cold air intake with their kit (new gaskets and clamps)

Needed to get done in response to -
    -Blower motor resistor
    - serpentine belt
    -lower tension pulley
    -2 Tension belts

Really haven’t had to do much. Replaced/upgraded most of the suspension in 2020. And I look at having to replace something as an opportunity to possibly upgrade, which is what I did with the suspension in 2020, and now with the LCAs.

Based on current prices and what you get (qc seems to have gone downhill the past couple years), and the fact that 2nd (2.5) gen is unequivocally the best gen, I would take repairing this over a new car payment any day.

Sitting behind a computer all day, interacting with factories that we purchase from by sending them orders, following up on orders, etc...

And interacting with internal people that should really know how to do their job but don't, so then I have to explain to them how/what to do their job in order for me to be able to do mine.

    Fun...

I'm about to leave the office and head back home for lunch, and stay there to be able to get my kids off the bus later.

Should have done the meeting from home, but was "asked" to come in for it.
