I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what they found to be the problem. It happens maybe once a week and no matter how much I toggle the headlights on/off they won’t come on. I will have to turn off the car and start it back up and wallah! luminessence back to operation!

Any aftermarket bulbs, taillights, or other electrical doodads? If so, I’d definitely start there.

Auto headlight circuit? Hopefully a warranty fix for you.

are your headlights set to auto? have you tried the different stalk settings? If so, I would replace the fuse. some fuses can have intermittent failures. also don't think it's a loose bulb because it would just be one light if that was the case.

if you have an aftermarket sound system, they could be starved for power.

LED or HID by chance? If yes, then there's the problem, if not then the body control module might be acting up.

Maybe a headlight relay issue? Burned spots on the contacts? Switch it with another relay (not something important like starter or fuel pump) and see if it helps

Or a headlight switch issue. With a wiring diagram you could pin out the connector and check for continuity when the problem is happening. Sometimes you can recreate the problem by slowly moving the switch through its positions

I feel like this is an important symptom. Any time I have seen this, it was due to too much current draw (or potentially worn components). There is also a fuse (but unlikely) and a relay that controls both headlights.

So he has HID. Seems about right. From my experience, aftermarket HID kits are horrible. ( for what it's worth, I find factory only marginally better ) but that is just my opinion.

OP, remove the HID and run some stock lamps for a while and see if the problem goes away. If it does then it's the HID. If it doesn't then either the relay of body module is faulty. Replace the relay first. It's cheaper.

But then I won’t be able to see Doubt it’s the HIDs. I recently swapped bulbs and ballasts and it continues to happen. If it was an igniter issue or something the. turning the lights on and off would get them to fire up…. Eventually… my specific issue is having to turn the car off completely and turn the key back to on. Next time it happens I will have to check for voltage and run down the circuit I guess. Outside of this they fire right up every single time
