Can anyone recommend an arb twin compressor mounting solution for a 22? Engine bay passenger side preferred, if any. I’ve tried Rogue’s GTFO and the firewall support bracket doesn’t clear the tubing. And when you bend it enough, it pushes the entire platform towards the intake which prevents mounting the compressor filters. It looks like SLEE doesn’t work as well. TIA.

 

Yeah, get the M.O.R.E. bracket. It fits fine and the most you may need to do is bend the A/C line slightly towards the engine. I’m talking literally less than 1/2 inch, if that. The tube is aluminum with a rubber hose and it’ll stay at whatever angle you bend it. The bracket is top notch and the ability to mount a tank is hard to beat!

 

Out of curiosity, what's different on the 22s vs the other 3rd gen trucks?

No difference. There is a slight manufacturing tolerance in the A/C line over on the right side of the engine and on some vehicles it contacts the side of the M.O.R.E. bracket slightly. I’m sure it’s not exclusive to the 2022 trucks and some people are risk averse to slightly pushing it out of the way. IMO if that is something you aren’t comfortable doing, you probably shouldn’t mod your truck at all. Just my 2 cents.

 

Mine specifically were the following:
1 - wire grouping slightly lower
2 - support bracket not being able to mount fully because of #1

Even after bending the bracket, end result throws the platform too close to the intake.

 

Late to the party but with the GTFO mount you have to shift the compressor farther to the driver side on the mount, it will overhang a little bit but still secures using the same 4 bolts but using different locations on the mount but it definitely fits no issues. You will likely have to remove the mount/compressor entirely, slide the compressor towards driver side a little more then reinstall.

 

Awesome. I kind of put it on hold until I saw this or before I started buying more mounts . I did this and it fits! I still had to bend the firewall support bracket. Thank you!

 

Good looking setup! This is the exact system I am considering running on my truck. Curious as to how you are liking this thing by now? Is the size good? I was just reading some people thought it was a little slow. Just curious what you were thinking by now?

Thanks! I used this compressor because its the one I already owned and didn’t want to drop more cash on an arb twin. Its not as fast as an arb twin but I’ve never felt like I need to upgrade. I usually finish airing up before all my friends anyway. I love that I don’t have to unpack the compressor and pop the hood when airing up. That alone saves a bunch of time. I use a two tire inflator hose so that helps also. I thought about upgrading that to a 4 tire inflator but I think it would be too much hose to manage.

 

After weighing the benefits and hindrances of each set up I narrowed it down to three options. I didn’t want to put it in my cab, and I have a dual battery taking up the passenger space.

1) Expedition Essentials Bedside
2) Rago Fab over fuse box
3) Runin4Tacos behind the grill

I always thought I was going to go with the expedition, but the added cost of the extra wiring, the dirt factor (cut fenders), kept me from going that route. I also don’t think it will be as easy to access as I would like as my spare time is in that general area.

I was very interested in the Rago option, but ultimately I didn’t want to cover my fuse box.

I like so much about the R4T setup, but I was hung up on the fact that it was “covering the radiator” like so many others. Ultimately I decided to go for it. I still can’t find a single person that says it has created cooling issues for them. I’m really happy that I did because there’s a lot more airflow behind there than I expected and it checks all the other boxes.




I also spent some time going to town on the switch panel with the Dremel this evening to make the ARB rocker switch fit and I’m very happy with the results.



I how to find some add a fuse minis tomorrow to finish the job. I guess I still need to mount the remote quick connect to my bumper as well…

 

I hear ya man. Guess I'll give it a shot, beats not having air. Ended up driving 60 miles on aired down tires last wheeling trip because the only air compressor we had was a 60v DeWalt that ran out of juice after two tires

Making memories! At least with this viair it has 100% duty cycle so that shouldn’t happen.

 

Has anyone mounted a compressor to a molle panel in the bed of the truck? Thinking about going with this set up.

 

What is the relay for? I have basically the same compressor and mounted it behind my seat. Used a circuit breaker and used the relay that it came with. Hooked up a dash switch and pressure switch and it’s been awesome.

 

That was a while ago, so I don't quite remember. It was probably going to be for turning it off/on without opening the compressor up to mess with the wiring. I ended up just doing exactly what you mentioned and its been great.

 

Been putting mine together for a while now. Almost done but it’s up and functional.

Using a Viair compressor with a 3 gallon tank which runs to an ARB outlet in the cubby. I also have a switched valve to run air up to my Up/down air manifold for airing up after a day on the trails.

 

Just getting around to mounting my oba system now, quick question, has anyone had any issues with their Viair setups due to mounting the compressor on its side? The installation manual says to mount it upright but boy is it easier to get the thing to fit if you just lay it down. This has probably come up before and I apologize if it has.

I never read the instructions for mine.... But I wouldn't mount it on its side because it seems like it would exacerbate cylinder wear on one side.

Will that matter much if you're only using it once in a while and not 24/7? Probably not.....

If you're beating the shit out of it by mounting it in hot dirty engine bay, it'll probably crap out before the cylinder wears anyway :^)
