This lathe is cool too with 4' diameter chuck, ~ 10" through bore, gap bed and the bed ways extend out for more capacity. Motor on the end moves the ways in/out but after loosening the nuts along the length.

I'm on the last cut of the journal area. I'm gonna need to file a bit on one portion of it .002" taper and plus/minus .001" diameter. I want there to be no questions

I believe they purchased these larger lathes and the horizontal mill back in the early eighties. Guess for some reason they had a huge amount of pipe that needed replaced. I should enquire what was the reason, poor quality pipe no cathodic protection or what? Because plant start up in 1974 to early 80' not that long.

I was hoping that they'd have a video of how they do it but I can't find one, at least not on YouTube. I did come across this one where he wears a head mounted 360 camera to go into an abandoned intercontinental ballistic missile base.

A few months ago my neighbor was trying to start his daughter's truck after it had been sitting a purdy good while; he hooked his truck to it and was over there just a'crankin on it....nothing. I took this over there and hooked it to her truck, it started in 2 seconds.:)

    20220915_112857.jpg

I'll forget I have it for several months; when I remember to charge it, it's either fully charged or really close to it.

Similar story, I jumped my neighbors car with mine and his wife had ordered a jump box off Amazon before I could disconnect the cables. Real handy to have.

This is the Haas VF2SS. It’s one of the potential machines on my list for next year.

Got to use the sand blaster today at work. Haven't used one in years. Amazing how fast they clean a part up.

Also used the bandsaw on the same piece. Shortened it and added a relief cut for ease of installation. Only pic I got was after painting it.

Also worked on this 100 series Land Cruiser today. AC compressor + condenser. The shop I work at gets a lot of Land Cruisers. Which is great because I own one and love working on them.
