Hi Painting the roof of 2008 Toyota Tacoma. sanded, put on primer, sanded and then put on basecoat using the blue pearl factory paint in a spray can. Not expecting a professional look as a spray gun is not available but something decent looking. After 3 coats the paint dried to a whiteish looking color in some spots. It wasn't like that when the paint was first applied. Any ideas why this happened and how to fix it? Thanks!

Did you shake the can prior to painting?

Did you sand the original clear coat off? That's what peeled and looked white before you started the paint job.
Primer must be compatible with the top coat paint.
When you get the color fixed you will need to spray 3-4 coats of clear coat on top (again a compatible type with your paint.
    Buy same brand when possible.
Sorry to say but above the doors and the hood will soon start fading and peeling too.

Probably time to sand it all off/down again and give it another try. Even a cheap Harbor Freight or Home Depot spray gun will work better than cans (been there done that and not great consistent coverage).
Other option drive to Maaco and drop off - done! Go out to dinner. Drink. Relax.

It was all well sanded. did get something in home depot to put on the can but don't have a professional spray gun. Was going to use the spraymax 2k clear coat. the clear coat that is compatible with the duplicolor didn't work well on a video on you tube but the 2k worked great. high gloss
