New Trend of Dealerships Changing Hands?

Anyone else noticed your local Toyota dealership has been bought out? Usually by some chain like Envision. And for us DIY guys, the parts department ecommerce websites are not only not giving a discount but they are asking for MSRP+ !

 

This is why I tend to not buy parts at the stealership. My local dealership has not been bought out, but they still charge out the ass for parts. They wanted $570 for a remanufactured Denso alternator, and I got the same alternator from my independent mechanic for like $250...

 

Dealerships are privately owned franchises; what you're seeing is strictly at the local level.

Dealerships near me (including the one I used to work at and run), is currently owned and has been owned by the same owner for well over +15 years with no intention of selling.
